All I Can Do Is Write About It Lyrics
Well this life that I've lead has took me everywhere
There ain't no place I ain't never gone
But its kind of like the saying that you heard so many times
Well there just ain't no place like home
Did you ever see a she-gator protect her young
Or a fish in a river swimming free
Did you ever see the beauty of the hills of Carolina
Or the sweetness of the grass in Tennessee
And Lord I can't make any changes
All I can do is write 'em in a song
I can see the concrete slowly creepin'
Lord take me and mine before that comes
Do you like to see a mountain stream a-flowin'
Do you like to see a youngun with his dog
Did you ever stop to think about, well, the air your breathin'
Well you better listen to my song
And Lord I can't make any changes
All I can do is write 'em in a song
I can see the concrete slowly creepin'
Lord take me and mine before that comes
I'm not tryin' to put down no big cities
But the things they write about us is just a bore
Well you can take a boy out of ol' Dixieland
But you'll never take ol' Dixie from a boy
And Lord I can't make any changes
All I can do is write 'em in a song
I can see the concrete slowly creepin'
Lord take me and mine before that comes
'Cause I can see the concrete slowly creepin'
Lord take me and mine before that comes
There ain't no place I ain't never gone
But its kind of like the saying that you heard so many times
Well there just ain't no place like home
Did you ever see a she-gator protect her young
Or a fish in a river swimming free
Did you ever see the beauty of the hills of Carolina
Or the sweetness of the grass in Tennessee
And Lord I can't make any changes
All I can do is write 'em in a song
I can see the concrete slowly creepin'
Lord take me and mine before that comes
Do you like to see a youngun with his dog
Did you ever stop to think about, well, the air your breathin'
Well you better listen to my song
And Lord I can't make any changes
All I can do is write 'em in a song
I can see the concrete slowly creepin'

I seriously think about moving into the country after hearing this song.
"you can take a boy out of ol' Dixieland but you'll never take ole Dixie from a boy"
Man I love this song. It makes me thankful to be living in the country.
ronnie is talkin about the city taking over more and more of the country. i hope the lord does take me and mine before that comes
This song means what it says. It is best to listen to it when the sun is setting and you are driving alone on a two lane highway without any traffic.
All I can do is write about it is one of many great, yet underappreciated lynyrd skynyrd songs...when i hear it it makes me think of people/crime/pollution moving further and further into the empty areas of the country for industrial purposes...ronnie van zant truly was a very "simple man", and probably found more redeeming value in watching a birds egg hatch than going to london to see some old fuckin clock...so, well he wrote a song about it
yep yep, he's a great one, truely missed and truley loved, do u believe that shit though about them movin his grave cause some punks vandalize it...why if i was there.. all hell would have done broke free.. anyways would the music bussiness still be he same with out our missed rockers of the yester years??? and i also agree about movin to the country.. i live in a wannabe ghetto city,Lindenwold, its 20 min. away from camden, and philly.. i have my own song im hummin it now...
"movin from the city, cant stand this city,, movin from this fretful city,, hate the city,, it aint pretty and i hate the city,,, i hate lindenwold, so im hoppin a frieght, hate lindewnold, it isn't great... i hate lindenwold cause its like a city, hate Lin..den..wold.... its so.... damn ........ SHITTY... hoppin a frieght,,away from the city... hoppin a freight to the country... to where itsgreat... thank you thank you..........and remember I HATe the city......LOL...( my feelings, ina tune about movin to the country)
i cant belive there arent anymore comments on this song. i think in my opinion its the best skynyrd song, sucha kick ass song, and yes i have to agree that line is the best.
This is the Skynyrd I remember. Not the sellout version of today.
Oh shut the hell up dude. They aren't sold out. Gary and Billy just wanted the fans to have something man. They want the music to live due to the unfortunate death of their friends. If you think they are doing this for the cash, you need to think harder. They havn't sold out, and never will.
I agree with both of you. They aren't sold out, but they need to quit. Five replacement members is too much and now they have gone from drawing all kinds of crowds to now playing mainly a white trashed based crowd. The song anyway, is a wonderful plea for attention to be drawn to nature. Ronnie really cared and this song shows it. No musicians nowadays would write something like this.
