Overlee Lyrics
It is the saddest day
When ya find you're alone
Well, that's why I'm here with you
See, I got no place to go
Yeah, the truth is I feel safe here
The most comforting place that I know
It's still the saddest day
When you say this is not my home
I wanna take you to Overlee
In a blue world floating endlessly
Where there's no language and there's no country
I wanna take you to Overlee
Now, I return to your place
Knocking trying to get in
And your roommate opens the door
And says, "Why are you back here again?"
I put my things down in the hall
Quietly enter your room
You're sound asleep with the cats
As I climb back in bed with you
I wanna take you to Overlee
In a blue world floating endlessly
Where there's no language and there's no country
I wanna take you to Overlee
And we could swim around and round and round [in the blue]
And we could swim around and round and round [in the blue]
And we could swim and swim until we drown [in the blue]
We could swim [we could swim] around and round and round
I wanna take you to Overlee [Overlee]
Floating 'round endlessly [endlessly]
No language and no country [Overlee]
Where I could hold you tenderly [tenderly]
I would take you over me [over me]
I wanna take you to Overlee
Round and round and round [round and round]
Where we could swim around and round and round
And we could swim and swim until we drown
When ya find you're alone
Well, that's why I'm here with you
See, I got no place to go
The most comforting place that I know
It's still the saddest day
When you say this is not my home
In a blue world floating endlessly
Where there's no language and there's no country
I wanna take you to Overlee
Knocking trying to get in
And your roommate opens the door
And says, "Why are you back here again?"
Quietly enter your room
You're sound asleep with the cats
As I climb back in bed with you
In a blue world floating endlessly
Where there's no language and there's no country
I wanna take you to Overlee
And we could swim around and round and round [in the blue]
And we could swim and swim until we drown [in the blue]
We could swim [we could swim] around and round and round
Floating 'round endlessly [endlessly]
No language and no country [Overlee]
Where I could hold you tenderly [tenderly]
I would take you over me [over me]
I wanna take you to Overlee
And we could swim and swim until we drown

Hello Hello
Add your song meanings, interpretations, facts, memories & more to the community.
Why has no one commented on this yet? This is by far one of the best songs I've ever heard. "And your roommate opens the door And says, "Why are you back here again?" is great. One of my best friends lives in Germany and sometimes when we talk we just dream together about living in a world without our popular culture, maybe something like Overlee. Just us two and nothing else to come between us, not even our differences in language.
This is the highlight of the entire CD for me. This is the most powerful song, it is amazing. The lyrics are amazing, and it just shows the devotion matt shows towards what he loves.
Overlee is a pool in the Arlington, VA area, where Matt is from. Hence the swimming around parts of the song. He lived in Spain for a while and had a girlfriend there, which is what most of Seven More Minutes has to do with. He basically wants to show her where he's from, because there's a certain comfort there. By the way, Matt Sharp loves swimming, he told me himself :)
