Money, Money, Money Lyrics
Ain't it sad
And still there never seems to be a single penny left for me
That's too bad
In my dreams I have a plan
If I got me a wealthy man
I wouldn't have to work at all, I'd fool around and have a ball...
Must be funny
In the rich man's world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich man's world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
It's a rich man's world
Ain't it sad
And if he happens to be free I bet he wouldn't fancy me
That's too bad
So I must leave, I'll have to go
To Las Vegas or Monaco
And win a fortune in a game, my life will never be the same...
Must be funny
In the rich man's world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich man's world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
It's a rich man's world
Must be funny
In the rich man's world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich man's world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
It's a rich man's world

anthem of a single woman in her 20s? could be.

Just about a woman who wants to have a rich bloke to pay the bills!

The ironic thing is, Abba made huge amounts of money, but did they find happiness? One of them - Frida? - ended up a recluse.
I never heard of such things. Most of them are quite happy. Nowadays Frida does a lot of charity work.

I love this song. I've heard Richard Thompson do a very interesting version of it.

Hmm, I believe most look at this song too literally. The for this is that the song is completely sarcastic. Abba attempts to explode a stereotype, using clear hyperbolic statements, in order to criticize that very stereotype. In this case, they take the assumption that having lots of money will make you eternally joyful, and exaggerate it so that audiences may start to realize how ridiculous it really sounds. Note that Sweden is a socialist country and Bjorn currently resides in Sweden, even after having clearly experienced the "rich life" of capitalist America.
2nd sentence should say "the REASON..." my mistake xD

@drek01 no this song is pretty literate, it's not exploring any stereotype-it's commentating on the common unhappy worker who spends so much of their life working and paying bills in a mundane job but never having the cash to be able to live their dreams as the money all goes on food/rent/gas bills... The song is just reflecting on the dreams of so many people of landing a windfall and being able to escape the working life and be rich.

Frida put her mouth where her money is. She married an aristocrat and upgraded to Princess!
