Push Me, Pull Me Lyrics

(Get me outta here... If reality is what I see...)

I had a false belief. I thought I came here to stay.
We're all just visiting. All just breaking like waves.
The oceans made me, but who came up with love?
Push me pull me, push me. Or pull me out.

Push me pull me. Or pull me out. (x2)

So if there were no angels would there be no sin?
Huh, you better stop me before I begin.
But let me say.
If I behave can you arrange a spacious hole in the ground?
Somewhere nice. Make it nice.
Where the land meets high tide.

Push me pull me. Or just pull me out.
Push me pull me.
Push me or pull me. Or pull me out.
Push me pull me, out.

Like a cloud dropping rain I'm discarding all thought.
I'll dry up leaving puddles on the ground.
I'm like an opening band for the sun.

Push me pull me. Or just pull me out.
Push me pull me. Push or pull me out.
Push me pull me. Just pull me out, out, out.
Push me pull me, out.

I've had enough, said enough, felt enough, I'm fine now.
Push me pull me. See ya later...

this is an awesome song and shows that vedder is a damn good poet. reminds me of something at some coffeeshop with bongos and shit. the meaning of it is pretty self explanatory.

This song is existencialism at its very essence. I really identify myself with these lyrics because they perfectly represent my innermost conceptualization of life: a brief travel through universe. "We're all just visiting... all just breaking like waves". On these few verses Pearl Jam makes a very strong statement of the futility of life, from the point of view of being impossible to avoid our final destiny of emptiness and forgetfulness.

I also feel like an opening band for the sun...

This is how are time on the earth is just a visit weather long or short. It could be Eddie Vedders concept of afterlife. It sounds like a mix of Nick Cave and a little U2.

It actually sounds a lot like the migration experience. Migrants are said to have 'push' factors that make them want to leave their native country and/or 'pull' factors that attract them to the new one. Also, there's 'migrant syndrome', where some people keep moving back and forth between countries as they get the whole 'grass is always greener' sensibility. A lot of the lines seem to correlate with this stuff pretty well -

'If I behave can you arrange a spacious hole in the ground?' 'I've had enough, said enough, felt enough, I'm fine now. Push me pull me. See ya later... ' 'Where the land meets high tide.' 'I had a false belief. I thought I came here to stay. We're all just visiting. All just breaking like waves.'

I love this song

This song has two meanings for me - life/death...and migration/travel/living abroad

This song kind of reminds me of Nine Inch Nails. I never thought I'd say that about Pearl Jam. BTW that's not a good thing IMO.
