The Love I'm Searching For

I love this song. Its the perfect song for driving around. The lyrics are great, the band rocks. All in all, this is one of my favorite bands and I have immense respect for everything they are about. :)

this song is the ultimate thing to say to someone you know you should be with but they aren't sure. "as hard as it may be, you should be with me. " you should. it's your choice, but i really think you should.

This was the first rentals song i ever heard, and i was hooked. This is such a great song, and you cant help but feel good about it, even if the lyrics are semi-depressing.

the one i know i should be with (he knows i should be with him, too)...well, he lives a long, long way away from me. he's the one who got me turned on to this song.

furthermore, i think this song is about realizing that the perfect love which you've been envisioning for yourself likely doesn't exist. it's a hard dose of reality -- there is always some obstacle (like distance in any sense of the word) to overcome.

I fuckin love the Rentals and I put this song on my computer to bring to school. And I can totally relate to this song. And it's just fuckin awesome for many reasons.

I dunno, but the first time I heard this song in 94 or whatever...can't remember, around there though I was going thru some first love crisis with a girl I met on a bbs (old school dial up modem wanna be internet back in the day) Those lyrics made me think of how I met that girl

The acoustic version of this song is one of the best songs I've ever heard... The SLEIGHBELLS!

The technical jargon thrown into the lyrics give it such a clinical and detached perspective, but all the while he's talking about how he longs for this person and feels she should be with him, which, that sentiment is the opposite of clinical and detached. I love the contrast there.

Sometimes things get so fucked up, all you can really do is "turn off the machine" and walk away from it. He's tried his ass off, the "system failed" so to speak...but that doesn't mean he doesn't wish things were different. He wishes intensely things would work out between them no matter how hard it'd be to accomplish that. So sweet and resigned.
