I Ain't Scared Of Lightning Lyrics
I aint scared of lightning
Come on and do your worst
If they gave degrees
For cheating destiny
Then man
I got a first
No I aint scared of lightning
It's the same old empty threat
I've been standing proud
Beneath the gathering cloud
And man
I ain't dead yet
No I ain't scared of lightning
And thunder never killed
I was born in a summer storm
I live there still
Yeah I was born in a summer storm
I live there still
Come on and do your worst
If they gave degrees
For cheating destiny
Then man
I got a first
It's the same old empty threat
I've been standing proud
Beneath the gathering cloud
And man
I ain't dead yet
No I ain't scared of lightning
And thunder never killed
I was born in a summer storm
I live there still
Yeah I was born in a summer storm
I live there still

i think it's llike he's so utterly defiant about everything that life throws at him, and he's trying to mask how much it all hurts him -
"If they gave degrees For cheating destiny Then man I got a first"
and he's boasting about how he beats it all, when really it's taking its toll on him
"I was born in a summer storm"
and it's always been like this, all the way through his life and he "lives there still" - nothings changing. it's an interesting end to a pretty bleak album, and it sounds like he's saying well it all doesn't matter, im coping...but he's really disguising how much all these bad things are getting to him...just what i think anyway
Such a beautiful song. I think it's like he's been beaten down and now he's so low that he's daring life to try and finally break him; he's endured it all through his life and now he's all but broken.
