all guster song are personal for me, but this one is the only one that can reduce me to tears. and when its over i just sit there in my room thinking about life. corny but true. no matter who you are, when you listen to this song you feel like they're singing to YOU. "if thats all you will be, you'll be a waste of time. you've dreamed a thousand dreams. none seem to stick in your mind." its about motivation. being someone. being insecure with who you are right now.

i feel like it's about a person who has adhd. and another person said to them that if that's all they're gonna be, they'll be a waste of time. like, the person with adhd needs to not let it define them, and improve themselves, not be an adhd person but a person who happens to have adhd.

the adhd person wonders if they will ever overcome this condition they have. they know that they mess up all the time, are slow, lazy, and find it hard to change the way they think about things to the way everyone else who is normal thinks. they never knew that they were different until someone finally told them that they were, and that it may be because of adhd.

adhd causes a person to have dreams, but then not stick with them, they constantly change their minds instead. often when a person has adhd, it feels like no one cares at all because often no one knows its adhd, not even the person who has it, if they haven't been diagnosed. adhd is widely under-diagnosed, especially for the quiet daydreamer type. also, people with adhd speak their minds often because they have no filter. so they can be quite honest a lot of the time. so, two points for that. and two points for the person who helps diagnose adhd honestly for a person.

This song is a really great song, it connects with alot of conflict and kinda says hey if youre not going to dream or do anything about your dreams then youll end up nothing. Youll just be a waste of time. If you cant pick something and go with it then youre never going to get anywhere and if youre not going anywhere no ones going to care at all.

i love the moral to this song. It makes so much sense. and I'd have to say next to center of attention this is def. my fav. Guster song.

this song just let us know wht the world is and ppl can only dream here but sum ppl go beyond their and this is wht guster wants us to do too....he says we aint nuthing but waste of time if we goin to live and not do anything abt dreams we see....but then on the contradictary,we see dreams with r eyes wide open or with r eyes shut but then when r dreams r broken the eye is the first thing affected when the creator and the destroyer r the same y dream it self???
