This may be a really odd interpretation but this song always makes me think of a prostitute who wants to change his/her life, but thinks it's impossible although he/she is given the possibility to start over and building up a new life. He/she is too afraid that life will become even worse if taking the risk of starting a new, "ordinary" life.
