Eyes Like Yours (Ojos Asi) Lyrics

Oh, you know I have seen
A sky without sun
A man with no nation
Saints captive in chains
A song with no name
For lack of imagination
Ya he ya he ya la he
And I have seen
Darker than ebony
Ya he ya he ya la he
You know it seems that I
Without your eyes
Could never be

My one desire
All I aspire
Is in your eyes
Forever to live
Traveled all over
Crossed lands and oceans
There's nothing
That I wouldn't give

Came from Bahrein
Got to Beirut
Looking for someone
Comparing to you
Tearing down
Windows and doors
And I could not
Find eyes like yours

Rabboussamai fikarrajaii
Fi ainaiha aralhayati
Ati ilaika min haza lkaaouni
Arjouka labbi labbi nidai

Came from bahrein
Got to beirut
Looking for someone
Comparing to you
Tearing down
Windows and doors
And I could not
Find eyes like yours

Oh, you know I have seen
A woman of means and rags
And begging for pleasure
Crossed a river of salt
The specter I rode
The ship that sank
In the desert

Ya he ya he ya la he
And I have seen
Darker than ebony
Ya he ya he ya la he
You know it seems that I
Without your eyes
Could never be

My one desire
All I aspire
Is in your eyes
Forever to live
Traveled all over
Crossed lands and oceans
There's nothing
That I wouldn't give

Rabboussamai fikarrajaii
Fi ainaiha aralhayati
Ati ilaika min haza lkaaouni
Arjouka labbi labbi nidai

Came from Bahrein
Got to Beirut
Looking for someone
Comparing to you
Tearing down

And I could not
Find eyes like yours

Rabboussamai fikarrajaii

Looking for someone
Comparing to you
Tearing down
Windows and doors
And I could not
Find eyes like yours

Maybe you guys just don't have a sense of poetry, but the things she lists are mainly impossible. Crossing a river of salt? There's no such thing, so there's no possible way she did it--it's called an hyperbole or exaggeration. Same with a ship that sank in the desert, as well as seeing darker than ebony. The poetic devices she uses in this song are amazing, and for the majority of you to sit here and discredit it as 'horrible' is flat out insane.

I like the Spanish song, but her voice sounds uncontrolled, like she has no idea what tone is. If anything, it flows less because it sounds so rushed; I love it, but the English version just is more organized and mature sounding.

wow... I feel some tension up in here... lol but anyway... yeah, don't try to over-analyze it... she's just saying that she's looked all over the world, and although she's seen some weird & rare things, nothing compares to the one she loves... or @ least his eyes... haha

What is this english crap. This song was about 92 times better in spanish. but none the less, I will always be shakira's biggest fan.

I agree with nillad this song is amazing in Spanish. The english version sounds like a piece of schizznick. Really doesn't do the song any justice.
