Hotel Yorba Lyrics
I was watching
with one eye on the other side
I had fifteen people telling me to move
I got moving on my mind
I found shelter
in some thoughts turning wheels around
I said 39 times that I love you
to the beauty I had found
Well its 1 2 3 4
take the elevator
at the Hotel Yorba
I'll be glad to see you later
all they got inside is vacancy
I've been thinking
of a little place down by the lake
they got a dirty little road leading up to the house
I wonder how long it will take 'till we're alone
sitting on the front porch of that home
stomping our feet on the wooden boards
never gonna worry about locking the door
Well it's 1 2 3 4
take the elevator
at the Hotel Yorba
I'll be glad to see you later
all they got inside is vacancy
It might sound silly
for me to think childish thoughts like these
but I'm so tired of acting tough, I'm gonna do what i please
let's get married
in a big cathedral by a priest
'cause if I'm the man that you love the most,
you could say I do at least
Well its 1 2 3 4
take the elevator
at the hotel yorba
I'll be glad to see you later
all they got inside is vacancy
And it's 4 5 6 7
grab your umbrella
grab hold of me
'cause I'm your favourite fella
all they got inside is vacancy
with one eye on the other side
I had fifteen people telling me to move
I got moving on my mind
I found shelter
in some thoughts turning wheels around
I said 39 times that I love you

has everyone forgotten this is a song meanings website? Stop putting each other down like five year olds (contradictory i know but i couldnt resist the chance to seem supirior) Having said all that, Im one of those annoying people that points out in many songs, the lyrics are just words and sentances that fit well with and suppliment the music. This type of lyric has just as much value as lyrics that tell a story, but it changes how the song works. All of the white stripes songs shoudl be listened to as mucis first, with lyrics and meanings second.
i agree with rebelpancake.......first jack and meg WERE married.. but the got seperated/divorced....but decided to keep the band together. And u can hear traces of "country" (really southern blues) in just about all there songs if u have a good ear, and a chunk of their tunes are covers of Blind willie Mctell and other black blues and slide artists from the 30s

So I take it that is why in the music vid she is tied to him. Basically making a statement of, If I marry anyone my Ex is coming along no matter what?

This song is great, he even uses a southern accent at times. The guys a amazing vocalist.
A buddy of mine told me that Jack plays old guitars he buys in pawn shops, and never really tunes them. I think it's cool, their music is so raw and real.
He buys cheap guitars. With cheap guitars (Mostly) the necks are usually slightly bent. And he keeps them that way, so they go out of tune lots. That way he can conquer and master what no one would dare to do. When growing up, Jack didn't want to play guitar. Everyone he knew played guitar. He came from a family of (I think) 10 siblings... Most of which played instruments. Guitar being a main one. One day, when he was working in an upholsterers shop, his mentor told him he was a drum player, so Jack decided to start playing...

They then formed the band The Upholsterers. Jack White is very influenced by old Blues, wax recordings. From back in the 30's.
Sorry, I got carried away! Was only meant to explain about his guitar :/ Haha. I adore Jack White, he's one of my main influences. Mainly because he's done what no one would do. And he's mastered that thing. Jack White ROCKS! Period!
One of my favourite songs, a bit of country, but not exactyly. Great lyrics, great flow with this jumping guitar. One of those songs, which I don't want to get into the real meaning or reading between the lines, pure entertainment. Lay back, an sing it along with him, nodding my head with the rythm.
I think this song is about just being in love and thinking crazy things (like when you are in love), it says cool things but... if one image worth 1000 words, then one video worths 1000 books!!! I mean, the video of this song is soooo self-explanatory... (and by the way, did Renée watch this video before dating Jack, or did she watch this video before marrying jack, and that's why they broke up?) I mean, jack will have a miserable love life (outside Meg) just for having made this video (ok Meg will have a miserable love life, too)
I believe it's sort of a Johnny Cash to June Carter song if that makes any sense. That's the idea I got from it since I first heard it...if you know anything about his life & love for her it really fits.
This is my favorite song by the white stripes along with Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground.
