I can't stand to see you sad
I can't stand to hear you cry
If you can't tell me what you need
All I can do is wonder why

Someday, someway
Someday, someway
Someday, someway
Maybe I'll understand you
You've taken everything from me
I've taken everything from you
I'll love you for my whole life through

After all you've done for me
All I really want to do
Is take the love you've brought my way
And give it all right back to you

Someday, someway
Someday, someway
Someday, someway
Maybe I'll understand you
You've taken everything from me
I've taken everything from you
I'll love you for my whole life through

General CommentThe last line on verses 4 and 7 is wrong. It should be "Maybe you'll understand me" which changes the meaning of the song.

I saw Marshall Crenshaw in concert not long ago. People kept shouting for this song and it was pretty clear he's tired of doing it although he did. He's my newest favorite!

My InterpretationI think this song is about a parent wishing they could communicate with their crying newborn. Certainly how I felt when my children were very young!

General CommentNo one has commented on this song? I love it! It sort of has a 50's feel to it. I love 50's music! I think it is about how some guy is trying to understand his gf.
