That explains a lot and confuses me even more lol.<br /> <br /> Like others I thought this song was about sex and abortion the first time i heard it, but I agree with you.<br /> <br /> This song has been my favorite Sublime song for years now.<br /> People are always surprised and ask me why I like this song so much. I feel that it captures a good range of what Sublime offers. Parts of the song are thrashy, then it transitions to Ska and elements of Reggae, and that incredible solo that is all over the place. Musically the song is all over the place, but the transitioning from one element to the next blends it together so perfectly in my mind.. It's like a well put together kind of madness, which is how I view my own mind in a way. So I feel like it's the one song that kind of captures the extremes of Sublime the best.<br /> <br /> I also feel like you can almost feel the emotion that is trying to escape Bradley as he sings it. Like the mixed up emotions of love, confusion, and anger, and oh so much more are just tearing at his voice. It's really moving.<br /> <br /> --<br /> Lyrically I agree with you. I've listened to this song so many times and I still have trouble finding a single meaning or theme.<br /> <br /> As you said, Janie was his stepsister, and planting the seed in her head of drug abuse is very plausible.<br /> <br /> That and all of the trouble he caused with her and his family, maybe at times he viewed himself as a bad seed?<br /> <br /> Or maybe the situation he caused, 'finding the needles (or something along those lines) and his step mom ask(ing) them to leave" -- perhaps his drug problem was the seed and it has grown into something out of control -- and now he is reaping the seed he has sown. <br /> ==Furthermore-the way he always says "I hope her parents love her (pause) so."<br /> With that long pause you could interpret him saying-<br /> "I hope her parents love her. Sow."<br /> And the song transitions to the next verse. Telling another aspect of the story of his life, something completely unrelated. Another Seed that he has planted that he must also Sow in his life.==<br /> <br /> <br /> As for the first verse I feel that this makes the most sense.<br /> As the music transitions you can hear his emotion go from being angry to apologetic to hopeful for the future. That's my take on it at least.<br /> <br /> The second verse gets even more confusing for me, if the lyric is feeling the acid on the brain, still I got that frame.<br /> Getting that frame could definitely be interpreted as getting that girl's frame. Having sex with her.<br /> Bradley uses a lot of slang in his songs.<br /> It could also be like insane in the brain. Feeling the acid on the frame of his mind.<br /> <br /> The drug references are apparent throughout Sublime's songs. But the sexual innuendo is also evident.<br /> The anarchy and rapid transitioning of the music in this song makes it hard to just pick one meaning, and I feel like there are many meanings blended together. It's kind of like a life story and for me there is no one meaning, but all of the shit Bradley has had to go through, he's telling many stories in one song. It could be about a girl that he got pregnant, but it's also about all of the shit in his life that is causing problems for them. Which could be why she chooses to get an abortion, or her parents convinced her to, or whatever way you want to look at it if you go with the whole sex and baby aspect.<br /> <br /> Making her bleed could definitely be fucking her and getting her pregnant planting his seed.<br /> Or planting his seed could be the seed of drugs fucking with her mind. Pulling out a syringe and causing her to bleed. It makes sense, especially with Bradley's drug problems, I don't know why people have difficulty considering this. It's very plausible.<br /> Talking about living it up, wanting 'that lovin' could easily be opiates. Could be sex. Could just be good times. Who knows, only Bradley knew what his actual meaning behind the song was.<br /> <br /> Oh my God honestly believe it or not its a disease.<br /> <br /> Addiction is a disease. One we must live with. Whether you stop drugs or not, the seed is always there.<br /> <br /> Whether you're addicted to drugs, sex, food, money, even you're own fucking pride, whatever.<br /> <br /> Anyway, that's one reason why I love this song so much. There's many ways you could interpret it. Perhaps each verse is a different story, with a general theme. Each verse is a fucked up portion of his life, a seed that he must sow. Or a fucked up portion of their relationship that they must endure. <br /> Just like you cannot categorize this song in one musical genre. It transitions form thrashy rock to ska to reggae to a solo that's all over the place, it's great. The lyrics and themes to this song are all over this place.<br /> And that's why this is my favorite sublime song, it covers so many different styles in one song, so many different things with one theme; it covers many aspects of his life.

Also making her bleed, doesn't necessarily mean drawing blood or anything. Making her bleed could be making her cry, or just hurting her. Making her soul bleed.<br /> <br /> Taking it so literally..<br /> I heard one person on here took it very literally and thinking it was about him killing her lol.<br /> But that's the great part, so many ways you could interpret it.<br /> Whether it was the intended meaning or not, it doesn't matter, it's all about how the music makes you feel, what it means to you. And that's what Bradley was all about. I love this song.
