Do you wanna mess around?
Do you wanna spend the night?
Yeah, I've known both kinds of love,
But I want to get it right this time.
I don't wanna settle down.
I don't want to make no plans,
'Cept for what I'm gonna do
With a pair of idle hands.

They're tearin' the Buick City Complex down;
I think we're the only people left in town.
Where you gonna move?
Where you gonna move?
Do you wanna mess around?

Do you wanna be my girl?
Do you wanna be my friend?
Do you wanna start it off,
Just to see how it'll end?
Do you wanna mess around?
I mean, deep down in your bones?
In a hotel swimmin' pool?
On a public telephone?

They're tearing the Buick City Complex down;
I think we're the only people left in town.
Where you gonna move?
Where you gonna move?
Do you wanna mess around?

They're tearin' the Buick City Complex down;
I think we're the only people left in town.
Where you gonna move?
Where you gonna move?
Do you wanna mess around?

Where you gonna move?
Where you gonna move?
Do you wanna mess around?

    General Commentsomeone (ahem) quoted this song to me when he was trying to explain why we can't be together:

    "do you wanna be my girl, do you wanna be my friend? do you want to start it off, just to see how it'll end?"

    i guess he was right. sorta. i think it could have been an okay ride, even if it wasn't destined to go on forever but hey..

    General CommentRhett said live that this song is written from the perspective of the things a regular guy would be thinking on the last night before a car factory (that supplies all the jobs in town) is closing down.
