Work That We Do Lyrics
Well we realized so long, long ago
And I bet you
That we've seen it all
The lies wont get you
I've got fourteen miles to go
I've got rhythm, common sense
I've got the soul
But I won't wanna come around our love
So why?
If you are rich, I'm gonna hang you on the wall
I'm gonna a find you
And when I find you, I'm gonna get your lovin' arms today
So we fight to get
we fight to get our weary arms to bed
Real love's somthing that I still hope
People make there own places to go
And now in '94 were gonna lie some more
In 1994 were going to die some more
It it ever going to be the last show?
It's going to be the last drive
Boss to proud to make the cars that we drive
The women don't mind, I've got ample time
And it's all underneath my voodoo
That's work that we do
A work that we do is work that we do
And I bet you
That we've seen it all
The lies wont get you
I've got fourteen miles to go
I've got rhythm, common sense
I've got the soul
But I won't wanna come around our love
So why?
If you are rich, I'm gonna hang you on the wall
I'm gonna a find you
And when I find you, I'm gonna get your lovin' arms today
So we fight to get
we fight to get our weary arms to bed
Real love's somthing that I still hope
People make there own places to go
And now in '94 were gonna lie some more
In 1994 were going to die some more
It it ever going to be the last show?
It's going to be the last drive
Boss to proud to make the cars that we drive
The women don't mind, I've got ample time
And it's all underneath my voodoo
A work that we do is work that we do

EXCELLENT song, especially the Stand By Your Van version.
SBYV is amazing

Live Version > All
I love the bassline.
This is the most informing and controversial song of Sublime WITHOUT QUESTION.
Why...??? Because it is the only song brad wrote about, that dealt with the government's interference in music. Like Hendrix, Morrison, Garcia, Joplin, Cobane, Elvis and Roy Orbison... Bradley Nowell was a victim of Project Monarch. The CIA's attempt to override the control of the entertainment industries through the enslavement of musicians via drugs and poverty.
Yes, this couldn't be more far fetched and absurd, but listen up...
On VH1's behind the music of Sublime, they talk about how Bradley was given a Hot Dose of heroin via a contact through their own record label. A hot dose indicates that the heroin was mixed with lethal chemicals, and is only distributed (and frequently reported) as a main tactical substance of biological warfare. The CIA has been dishing out hot doses of heroin through many orchestrated assassination attempts.
Bradley Nowell was killed 2 weeks before he became one of the main profiteers of the self-titled album. Plain and Simple. It was always about money. God Bless Bradley
"A work that we do is work that we do" ( Perfect interpretation of "working for the man.")
"Boss to proud to make the cars that we drive" (Obvious reference to show that they are working for someone who is proud at what they are doing)
"All underneath my voodoo" (Voodoo and shamanism is the first step of the ancient disassociative tactics of mind control programming)
It brad were still alive today, he would be one of the most influential people on the planet. If they couldn't control him, they'd have to terminate his command.
Bradley Nowell was killed. Hot doses of heroin aren't something you find through a regular dealer. You find it through a federal contact. As if someone would willingly sell and use a product that was purposely manufactured to kill (hot doses are altered specifically to cause fatality.)
i just love this song, especially "I've got fourteen miles to go I've got rhythm, common sense I've got the soul " and "And now in '94 were gonna lie some more In 1994 were going to die some more" parts.
yeah, while the Robbin' version is innovative, the live version is much better. cool bluesy reggaeness.
Brad's always talking about real love, truth and reality. He's just being himself and he realizes that everyone around him is pretending. He doesn't want to believe it so he paints a new picture for himself and lives in the world that exists in that picture.. only coming to realize that he too is pretending and playing along.
yeah, live versions of sublime are the best..beat all the other versions
its so full of passion and energy..usualy other bands suck hearing live mp3s...but not what i've heard, even the real crapppy quality sublime mp3s are STILL great
that whole stand by your van wouldnt be the same without this one..
Ok The one line is different on any web page I ever saw.... "False teeth god to Make the cards that we draw"
i always thot it was "ive got the rythm CONFIDENCE, i got the soul" but w.e. Great song, i actually like the studio version better, awesome bass line, trippy as hell song
i love this song.
