Mister Love Lyrics

Are you gonna save me?
Can you save me?
Are you gonna save me?
Can you save me?
You gonna make me happy?
You gonna make me smile?
Can you save me?
Tell me, Mister Love!

Are you gonna save me?
You gonna make me happy?
Can you save me?
Tell me, Mister...Mister.

We're gonna show you a thing or two about love.
Be patient.
Be patient.
Love love love love love.
Ha ha ha ha ha.
Yeah!

Are you gonna save me?
Can you save me?
Are you gonna save me?
Can you save me?

Are you gonna save me?
You gonna make me happy?
Can you save me?
Tell me, Mister Love!

Mr. Love = Jesus

I agree. Especially with the feel of the rest of the album and the themes that seem to permeate it. Mr. Love is Jesus, and these are the questions that the singer is seeking the answers to. It almost sounds like he's having a crisis of faith, and want's what he learned as a child to be reinforced (see 'Backslider').

It's like...when you're alone, you feel like a girlfriend/boyfriend is all it would take to make you happy. But you have to ask yourself if that's your only problem and if that's all it would really take to satisfy you. That's just my opinion.

This song is soo tight, the guitars are fast and loud, and his vocals are fckin addicting.

Maybe it's just me being Anti-Valentine's but it seems to me that this song is kind of like a satire - making fun of people's clingy-ness to the idea of having someone to love and how people base their lives on it and the way our society forces that want on us with tv shows and movies and stuff (ie: the repetition of the word love in a voice that sounds like it's on megaphone).

Or it could just be a really random (but very kickass) song.

I think it is someone who thought all they need is love to make them happy and make them smile but they were wrong, and in this song are sort of laughing at the idea of it and mocking "love" as if it were a person (Mr. Love)... furthermore, I think that personifying Love here is an important factor as it parallels the idea of thinking a person (perhaps the one you love) could make you happy and fix everthing. Bottomline: you can't expect to find pure happiness in a person, not even in love.

They're just personifying love as if it were an individual.

What they're getting at is that love is not the most important thing and other things can make you happy.

I've got this one I think, however it's speculation not fact. Mister Love was a member of another local band and he was Christian and very positive and upbeat, a nice guy to everyone. He got a lot of flack about it. I hope I'm wrong because he was a great guy (probably still is). I think this because back then the Toadies shared a drummer with this band. The band was... Pop Poppins. Their music is Still a great listen. If there is ever a request to remove this comment please take it down. Mister Love knows how to get in contact with me to say "don't do that", and so if you see this, Sir, please pass a message through our mutual contact.

@michellegp In fact, Be Patient IS a Pop Poppins song.

I think this song is about a person who has problems with depression or something like that and thinks that love can solve his problems and save him.
