It's pretty obvious what this is about: his ex-girlfriend getting married. To me this is the saddest song in the world, I honestly cry everytime I hear. No other song makes me cry.
I totally agree w/ aj2828aj. The first time I heard this song I thought about my ex boyfriend, and how we were engaged, and now hes moved on...its so sad, but this song is really good

The three of you are all right...I think we all want the best for the people we truly love...it just hurts too much to see them get it without us. His song 'King of Yesterday' could easily be considered the sequel to 'I Do'. Even though she's found her new life he can't let go of what might have been...and still could be. Been there-doing that.

That's the worst feeling in the world I think. My ex just got engaged and even though we have been broken up for a long time it still hurt. On some level I guess I just always assumed we would work out some day. This just made me feel like it was finally totally over. As much as you want the person you love to be happy you always wish it could be with you, sometimes it can't and that just sucks. But it is what it is and you still need to move on. At least that's what thins song means to me.

This song makes me cry as well. It's such a sad song and the lyrics are beautiful! It's pretty obvious what it's about -- your ex moving on.
Every time I hear this song (first time I heard it was on Dawson's Creek), I think of a friend of mine who doesn't know how I feel and how awful it will be if I have to watch them get married. It's a beautiful song though.
