40 Oz. To Freedom Lyrics

You've got your hair permed
You've got your red dress on
Screaming that second gear was such a turn on
And the fog forming on my window tells me that the morning's here
And you'll be gone before too long

Who taught you those new tricks?
Damn I shouldn't start that talk,
But life is one big question when you're starin' at the clock
And the answers always waiting at the liquor store, 40 oz to freedom,
So I take that walk.

And I know that oh, I'm not comin' back
Oh not going back
Oh God knows not going back
Oh not goin'

You look so fine, when you lie, it just don't show,
That I know which way the wind blows
40 oz to freedom is the only chance I have to feel good,
Even though I feel bad

And I know that, oh, I'm not goin' back
Oh not going back
God knows I'm not going back
God knows I'm not going back

Oh, I'm not goin' back
Oh not going back
God knows I'm not going back
God knows I'm not going back

OK first of all this is songmeanings.net not cockriders.net. Anyway this song is about a fight he had with his girlfriend after he got out of jail this is why. You got your hair permed, you got your red dress on, screamin' that second gear was such a turn-on. MEANS She got all dressed up for his return from jail

And the fog forming on my window tells me that the mornings here and you'll be gone before too long. Means he fucked her in the car on the way home and she always goes home in the morning after sex.

Who taught you those new tricks? Damn, I shouldn't start that talk but life is one big question when your starin' at the clock.... Means: Who you been fucking while I'm jail...I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that but all you can do in jail is think. If you ever been you'd understand.

And you look so fine when you lie, it just don't show but i know which way the wind blows. Means: You are a good liar you manipulative whore but I'm not a dumbass you don't learn new sex tricks on your own. A 40oz to freedom is the only chance I have to feel good even though I feel bad. Means: A 40oz to freedom is the only chance I have to feel good even though I feel bad. Ooohhh....I'm not goin' back. Ohh I'm not going back. Ohh God knows, im not going back. Ohhh I'm...not goin'

Ooohhh....I'm not goin' back. Ohh, I'm not going back Ohh, God knows, I'm not going back Ohhh, I'm...not goin' back Means: I'm never going to steal another fucking car again. So I won't go back to prison.

Awesome interpretation man!

If we'll all notice for just a moment that brad wasn't necessarily an alcoholic or a pothead or anything (substance wise) but a junkie, and junkies always feel better with some sort of alien (or chemical) substance coursing through their veins, so they'll do any drug pretty much. Scary, huh? Also, when you think about it, so many amazing artists (namely musicians in the past 30 years) have addictive personalities, and tendancies to abuse drugs. Coincidence? I dunno, but I do know that Brad Nowell was an amazing guy with an amazing voice and an old soul. Peace!

it doesn't necessarily mean he was an alcoholic I don't think. Brad Nowell was great though. People who aren't alcoholics drink to escape too...I can't think of one person I know who hasn't. This is just an awesome song....a great album too!

Sublime was an awesome band. That's stating the obvious as well, oh well, seeing them in concert would be one thing I would have liked to have done. Not that I'm a diehard Sublime fan, really.. it's just really good music. That had nothing to do with anything I was supposed to be saying. Blah!

hey can someone tell me (from their opinion) which of sublimes cd's is good album?..

all of them are, i think 40 oz to freedom might be their best, but robbin the hood comes in a very close 2nd...i haven't listened to second hand smoke in awhile but i know some of the songs on their are great, get out is one of my favorites. the sublime self-titled album is good but in my opinion a little more generic than the other music. i love all their music though, hope this helps.

@xurfavoriteweaponx all of them im a diehard sublime fan and i can decide which is the best because they all are the best

to xurfavoriteweaponx, i agree with incubus421 about 40oz. being their best album, but if you havent really heard much of sublime, or you arent into reggae/ska yet, buy their self titled cd becuase most new sublime fans love it. you will probably like that one so much you will want to buy another, so then get 40 oz. sorry incubus, im not saying that second hand smoke is bad or anything...it kicks ass, but its their worst cd.

fuck you buddy

anyways, this song is awesome. sublime had so much potential, and their career was cut short. sometime in the mid-90's, my brother's friend had tickets to see sublime, and my brother said who the hell is sublime? i dont wanna see that!...his biggest regret in his life was that.
