Beautiful song. Struggling with existentialism at the moment. Seems to be a fitting song.
One of my favorite tracks from Exit Planet Dust. What a deep ending for such a timeless album. It could easily be turned into a lullaby.
Throughout the years, I have always wondered who was the mysterious « she » that she deals with. Could it be her lover, her sister, a friend of hers, her mother...
Today, I am convinced that she describes a struggle with herself, or at least with a part of herself that has vanished. And it makes her life meaningless.
She feels so hopeless within that she has lost any kind of motivation and energy to get herself back. The pain caused by this loss makes that, after all, she doesn't get the point of being « alive alone ».
Not sure that she describes facing mental issues, but surely one of those inner-emptiness periods that we all have been through at least once in our lives.
