Turn My Head

In a 1995 issue of SPIN magazine, it is revealed that "Turn My Head" is a song that Ed wrote at the time for his girlfriend.

"Taylor joins Kowalczyk at the mike for reedy fragments of vocal harmony, and as the gentle strains of "Turn My Head," an unfinished love song to Kowalczyk's new girlfriend, float across the empty auditorium, scattered roadies and arena crew all pause in their tasks listen: "...caught in your mystery... turn my head, it's aimed at you..."

The article ends with:

"He laughs and tells me a line he's put into "Turn My Head" that his girlfriend didn't even know how to react to. "It's cool," he says, "because it sounds so serious, but I'm not sure it's even a sexual reference."

SPIN: So what's the line?

ED: "I've fallen down / Drunk on your juices."

SPIN: And this is on the next album?

ED: "Yeah! The band thinks it's one of our best songs ever!"

So there it is. It's not about a striper (unless his girlfriend was a stripper), and it's not about God. It's a love song.

Not that anyone is going to read this, but obviously the song is about romance..... he has mentioned this at his concerts. the line "drunk on your jucies" is very sexual and sacred. "what ever we called you, its just a name" sounds as if he is trying to raise her beyond just an earthly title..... into perhaps a godess postion. "keep it angry, keep it wispy" he is describing her femininity and her strength. "your dress is torn to shreds" makes me feel like he is expressing his desire to protect her. "funky temple", again sounds very sexual and sacred at the same time.

If you listen to Ed on the most recent live cd/dvd, he says, "This is for my lady" before playing the song.

People... this is not about rape trust me!!! I know Ed... and Chad.. and Gracy... and Pat! We all went to the same high school we go way back! And Chad T is local I know his wife! Trust me this is about love. Yes it is a deep song, like all of there songs. But it is far from being a rape song! Knowing these guys for so long, like I do, you just know that rape is something they would not sing about.
