Forever May Not Be Long Enough Lyrics

forever may not be long enough for my love
I have a will but I'm lost inside your time
if you could, would you come with me to the other side?
forever may not be long enough
forever may not be long enough
forever may not be long enough for this love
forever
forever
forever

this world is never enough, and I'm not givin up
my faith in love is like blood, I'd spill it freely for some
my faith in love is like blood, it flows in everyone
don't stop to look at the clock, forever won't be long enough

forever may not be long enough for you to know
just how far i'd travel, just how far i would go
open your heart and everything will be alright
open your heart, baby leave with me, don't be afraid
forever!

this world is never enough, and I'm not givin up
my faith in love is like blood, I'd spill it freely for some
my faith in love is like blood, it flows in everyone
don't stop to look at the clock, forever won't be long enough

forever may not be long enough
forever may not be long enough
forever may not be long enough
forever may not be long enough

this song is so beautiful. he's so in love with this girl that he'll never get enough. this is how i feel about my boyfriend.

I think it's about a more wide kind of love. I don't think he's speaking to a girlfriend, but his whole audience. Spreading the idea of love, true love, for everyone. Ed said it best himself, "only love can save us now".

i think it's something even "bigger" i can't really figure it out, but the lines like : "my faith in love is like blood, I'd spill it freely for some" "my faith in love is like blood, it flows in everyone" make me wonder if it really is as simple as one may think

I think you guys are over analyzing it. This song was written only for the Mummy Returns. It's about the Mummy's(Imhotep's) love for pharrows wife. Remeber in the movie he planed on taking over the world with the two of them ruling it, and in the song it says "the world is never enough and I'm not giving it up." When he says"my faith in love is like blood, I'd spill it freely for some" he's talking about how the mummy was willing to kill anyone who stood in between him and his love. And when he refers to "the other side" he's talking about the realm of the dead. You can see this was written for a movie by reading the lyrics, the song is dominated by chorus's. Yes he did do a good job of describing what love feels like but he did it briefly and did it to set a mood in a movie. Jees guys don't over think things all the time.

I personally think Spider's right. It WAS written for The Mummy Returns (one of my fave movies by the way) But I don't really care what it's about. It's a good song. & I don't plan on over-thinking it & ruining it for myself :)

Xaco has a point. Those lines seem almost religious. Funny how God ends up in most Live songs....at least for me He does.

Back in the time this was written, Ed was very inspired by the idea of spirituality and something More Than Us.

And yet, he was very specifically against much of organized religion, considering them to be over-wrought, over-controlling and difficult ways to express your connection to a higher existence.

He spoke of god as being a concept more than an actual deity. Much like love in this song, Ed's god was a part of all of us. Something that we were and something that we shared between us all. Not some powerful thing that we had to worship in...

It may be written for the mummy returns, but it also has deeper meanings. I dont realy mind what they are, but i LOVE the line "Faith in love is like blood; It flows in everyone" Its become a philosophy of life for me

This song was written for The Mummy Returns. It is from Imhotep's point of view and his feelings about Anck-su-namun (historically, Ankhesenamun) are made very clear in the song- a love, desperate and bordering on obsession. He would spill blood freely for her, would become immortal to spend more than forever with her. It is beautiful, possessive and dominant.

What makes it very sad is that she does not return the same feelings, as is evidenced in the end of The Mummy Returns.
