Its about the emotional rollercoaster that is the life we lead, and someone just wanting the ride to stop for a bit to gather themselves.
Makes me think about someone despairing about life and probably contemplating suicide. The chorus is supposed to be someone else saying, "stop - don't do it". That's how it strikes me at least.
