You Said Something Lyrics

On a rooftop in Brooklyn

At one in the morning

Watching the lights flash

In Manhattan

I see five bridges

The Empire State Building

And you said something

That I've never forgotten

We lean against railings

Describing the colours

And the smells of our homelands

Acting like lovers

How did we get here?

To this point of living?

I held my breath

And you said something

And I'm doing nothing wrong

Riding in your car

The radio playing

We sing up to the eighth floor

A rooftop, Manhattan

At one in the morning

And you said something

That I've never forgotten

You said something

You said something

You said something

That was really important

I really like how she never lets us know what it was that the other person said that was so important.

Oh! Gosh! This song is brilliant. To me it is about two people who are so close and know everything about one another. It's a relationship where somehow something ie:a person, is keeping them apart because one of them is already taken and they can't deny the connection and the romance bustling beneath their skin, the tension is soooooo very strong and then one of them admits the truth. It is a moment that the one who heard the truth keeps relieving as if to fantasize as they don't know what's to happen next.

I love this song with all my heart. This song-is just a feeling.. I feel a lot when I listen to it cause its probably familiar to me.. It`s so unbelievably great to be "on the rooftop,to watch the lights flash, to lean against railings describing the colours, smells of our homlands and(the most interesting part) acting like a lovers.." I just so feel it)))

I really think it's about someone telling her that they love her. And that she's never forgotten it.

I don't think it's just the truth that is spoken. The way she writes it - it has to be more. "I've never forgotten": what did he say? Infuriating but brilliant that we never get to know what.

I agree with alovelyfadeout. It is her remembering the first time her lover said "i love you".

i think the first verse is about the first time a man told a women he loved her. the second verse is about the couple looking back on where they came from and he proposes to her .
