Something To Do Lyrics

My little girl
Won't you come with me
Come with me
Tell me

Is there something to do

I'm going crazy with boredom
Come with me
Tell me

Grey sky over a black town
I can feel depression
All around
You've got your leather boots on

I can't stand another drink
It's surprising this town
Doesn't sink
You've got your leather boots on

Your pretty dress is oil stained
From working too hard
For too little
You've got your leather boots on

You're feeling the boredom too
I'd gladly go with you
I'd put your leather boots on
I'd put your pretty dress on

I think this song is about a working girl

'Your pretty dress is oil stained From working too hard'

This isn't an oil :)

Song Meaning

No, it's about a fellow asking a lady for a date, and the lady has a job (No,she isn't a prossie) and her dress has grease stains in it from getting it caught in the car door on her way to/from work

Very good song, I've felt that way before, small town, bored, wanting something to do.

A very underrated song of theirs, but very good nevertheless. C'mon, let's go out and party and enjoy living.

This is so-o-o-o-o obvious. The guy is saying the young lady he has the sparks for, "howzabout a date, gorgeous?"

I think this song is about SEX.

BTW. "I'd put your pretty dress on..." gotta love Martin.

@raid357 It's NOT about SEX, for crying in Manhattan! It's about a young gentleman asking a young lady for A DATE. Just a DATE!

Ahhhh....the 80s. This song is sooo cooool. One of their overlooked and under-rated songs...I think.

does anyone know what "I'd put your leather boots on" and "I'd put your pretty dress on" mean?

Song Meaning

It's slang - ya know: If I were you, I would put your pretty dress on. Not that HE would put them on, he's telling her, get dolled up and let's find some trouble or fun to get into. When I was younger I misunderstood and thought he was going to put them on, and that always sounded like a lot of fun, but I digress, this one isn't pervy, just teen angst.

@ RDTX14. Indeed. The gentleman is saying to the lady, "if I were you, I'd get all fancied up and go have some fun." I don't know about TEEN angst, though. The line about working too hard for too little makes me think that the couple are adults. Young adults, perhaps, but adults.
