More Than A Party Lyrics
Lots of surprises in store
This isn't a party
It's a whole lot more
We've had enough of this blind man's bluff
You've kept us in the dark for long enough
This is more than a party
More than a party
More than a party
Keep telling us we're to have fun
Then take all the ice cream so we've got none
The failed magician waves his wand
And in an instant the laughter's gone
Loads of surprises in store
This isn't a party
It's a whole lot more

LOL! The 20-somethings here in Portland, OR sure had quite their own party by throwing a massive protest downtown the night after George W. Bush was once again 'mis-elected'. Methinks all that rioting may have resulted because during the last pres. election in '04, we Dems and Independent sorts really went hard on the 18-25 crowd to actually VOTE for a change if they wanted to see Bush go back to that ranch he loves down in Texas. Well, as you know, electoral votes seem to count more than us peons, I mean, the popular vote, and those nudged Bush ahead by a whisker-hair into another term. Bummer! But that's how our democratic voting process works--ya pays ya money and ya takes ya chances while still being a Good American Citizen. But oftentimes I do wonder about those votes that got screwed up in Ohio--would that have turned the tide. Well, we may never know why the 'party' went sour enough to have a large group of protesters sitting in a circle in the Portland rain blocking off the Burnside bridge all night. Even one major British paper came out The Day After with a big picture of Bush's face and this glaringly short headline: NOT HIM AGAIN? that my pharmacist hung prominently in his drugstore--let the hangover begin. We Pharmageeks have a Rx for that, LOL!
This should be the Republican Party's Theme Song!! It's about a (politcal)party that promises much more than it delivers; exploiting its members and society.
