If you've been hiding from love
If you've been hiding from love
I can understand where you're coming from
I can understand where you're coming from

If you've suffered enough
If you've suffered enough
I can understand what you're thinking of
I can see the pain that you're frightened of

And I'm only here
To bring you free love
Let's make it clear
That this is free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love

I've been running like you
I've been running like you
Now you understand why I'm running scared
Now you understand why I'm running scared

I've been searching for truth
I've been searching for truth
And I haven't been getting anywhere
No, I haven't been getting anywhere

And I'm only here
To bring you free love
Let's make it clear
That this is free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love

Hey girl
You've got to take this moment
Then let it slip away
Let go of complicated feelings
Then there's no price to pay

We've been running from love
We've been running from love
And we don't know what we're doing here
No, we don't know what we're doing here

We're only here
Sharing our free love
Let's make it clear
That this is free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love

No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love

So I just signed up on this page to share my point of view.

Like many, I went through a recent bad break up. In general you could say that you only hear things in a song that you want to hear. So this song for me has nothing to do with sex or one night stands. Zero.

    Here's my go:

---If you've been hiding from love I can understand where you're coming from If you've suffered enough I can understand what you're thinking of I can see the pain that you're frightened of---

The author directs the song to no specific person. It is mentioned for everyone who has gone through the same things he was. You only hide from things that you are afraid of. In this case it is love that led him to pain and wanted him to never feel this pain again at some point. He was /is afraid of experiencing the same pain he had from a breakup once he falls in love again.

-- And I'm only here To bring you free love Let's make it clear That this is free love No hidden catch No strings attached Just free love --

The author wants to give hope to the listener. He wants to bring him free love. And by "love" he actually means the feeling of love. The good things you feel when you love somebody and get the same back. As both he and the listener experienced bad things that was caused by the condition of loving someone, he points out that this kind of love comes with no strings attached and no hidden catch. Its free. You don't have to pay for it in any way (There is also the english expression "to pay for something" in a emotional way)

--I've been running like you Now you understand why I'm running scared I've been searching for truth And I haven't been getting anywhere--

I didn't really get that part until i read it over and over again. The first part is obviously clear. He tells the listener to trust him as he was going through the exact same stuff he is in right now. He wants to gain trust so that you believe in him and follow the same path he did after the breakup / bad feelings.

The second part is more complicated. At first, it seems like that it was pointless to search for the truth. In this case it could mean that he was either searching for the reason why he experienced this bad feelings or more basic: he searched for the reason of the breakup / why his ex partner did breakup or lost the feelings she had for him.

Turning point is the "And I haven't been getting anywhere" This may also look like what he has done to overcome the situation was useless. But i wasn't. He realized that neither running away nor trying to figure out the reasons for the breakup would lead to anything. Its not about analyzing or fixing, its about accepting. He came to a point were everything he has done didn't change his feelings or situation. So he accepted it. And by accepting it he came to the point everyone has to come to. You let the person you've been with free to go. Emotionally.

Once you have reached this point, you are open for new things to happen.

-- Hey, girl You've got to take this moment Then let it slip away Let go of complicated feelings Then there's no price to pay --

Pretty obvious in my opinion. This part is already talking about the new things that are going to happen after you broke up with somebody. You should be open minded, without concerns of anything. Because only then you have the chance to experience something amazing either way.

-- We've been running from love And we don't know what we're doing here We're only here Sharing our free love --

Once again this may seem negative at first glance, but it isn't. Even though he says that is unclear what exactly they (him and the audience) are doing at first, it is exactly that what he wants us (Him, listener, audience) to do. Being in the state of not knowing what the point of this whole thing is, is the actual point. You are free. You have let go of complicated feelings. You are open for new things to come. The only thing that you have left within the inside is free love.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
