Fly On The Windscreen

OMG! Has history really become lost? Has anyone bothered to look at when the song was written and released? Ummm, let's see, what else was going on in the world at the time. Come here, Touch me, Kiss me, Touch Me, Now, Touch me. The song can be generalized to death in general, however, the song was specifically written about the long forgotten (in America) AIDS. Flies on the Windscreen was meant to describe the horrible things we witnessed people going through, Death in the gay community was living driving through the country and bugs splatting on the windshield. The chorus of Come Here, Touch me, Kiss me, Touch me, Now, Touch Me was used to describe the intent of lust over riding the death around us and men still practicing unsafe sex while watching death, and because of the lack of treatment and money being spent at the time were considered, 'lambs being slaughtered' as the meek, gay community were being slaughtered by the lack of awareness and treatment. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!

In the classic DM vein of (fill in the reason) so we better get together and have sex right quick!

I don't think Death has to do anything with the song's meaning. I prefer another interpretation: you should never hasitate in the face of true love and take your chanses.

I can see what you guys say about life being short and such, but I feel that the writer is so concerned with death, almost obsessed. This idea really gets to him and I feel that his only escape from this inevitable demise is the feeling he gets from love, whether it be physical or emotional.

I agree with the above comment. We can die at any moment, so we better well make the most of tonight. Kinda a similar message as the previous song on the album.

Sounds like a clever "pick-up line", but I like this song very much...

Is anybody here familiar with Aeon Flux (the animation) soundtrack? When he goes "come here, touch me, kiss me, now", there's this very industrial metallic sound that reminds me a lot of the metal pipes futuristic spy music from Aeon Flux. I really like it.

The extended version from It's Called A Heart 12" is the best, it's just so much moodier than the 'final' version that ended up on Black Celebration. Definitely one of DM's best songs imo
