My Land Lyrics

My own land has closed ots gates on me
All alone in world, it's scaring me

I am here to prove you wrong
I'm accused of something I live for

In my dreamland, there's some who understands
A friendly soul, trusting life in my hands

Yes, I gave it all I can
Now it's invaded by a stranger

Keep in mind what you have heard today
You might find that you're not so brave
Are you man enough, carry the load all alone
When other have your own

My old land is but a pile of sand
Cold and bare but something still is there

I am here to claim my land
You can't keep me away forever

Keep in mind what you have heard today
You might find that you're not so brave
Are you man enough, carry the load all alone
When other have your own

I'm a true patriot, you are my land,
you have my soul, you have all I had
Now I am here, and I want it all back

In my dreams, I climb the hills I see
and let a gentle breeze lead me to
plains I once have seen and
Clear blue sky, I swim in lakes I find
I build a house right there
that you can't take away

I am here to claim my land
you can't keep me away, forever, ever

Keep in mind what you have heard today
You might find that you're not so brave
Are you man enough, carry the load all alone
When other have your own

I like both the Dalai Lama and the pwn little world interpretations, but am I the only one who first just thought it was about losing land...literally.

@craniifer Nope, that's my interpretation as well. He was exiled from his homeland for a crime he did not commit ("My own land has closed it's gates on me/I am here to prove you wrong/I'm accused of something I live for") and he returns from exile to find that the usurpers who framed him have ruined the place.

Does anyone else see this as finland in world war two? It may be a stretch but it is very possible.

i think like craniifer, i find my land to be a quite unsuitable expression or metaphor for a living person, wouldn't be much of a nice pet name to call your girl my land, would it? That one with the Dalai Lama and Tibet seems possible, Finland may be, too, even if I don't know anything about their role in wwII

Huh. I thought it was just about literally taking back land in a war or something.

I think it talks about Finland, I've already read finnish people talking about it and how Finland used to be taken by other countries.

This song makes me think of a character like William "D-Fens" Foster from the movie Falling Down. A dedicated man who did everything right according to his own beliefs, but was still ejected from his own family, while his ex got together with another ("now it's invaded by a stranger.") The narrator is seeking to claim back his former life, which only exists in his imagination by now, and it will not end well for anyone involved.

A friend of mine told me it's about a Girl's Love.

Zomfg! The intro nearly made me cry! T_T

If you ask me the, it is about a man (or woman) who's love and life is being held down by somebody (or something, a government?) and he/she has finally had enough. He's gonna rebel and kick all ass to get his sould back.
