I cross the oceans
I cross the seas
I cross the mountains
Like a new disease
I cross the borders
I cross the line
Never to see the light
Til the end of time
I've seen the canyons
I've seen the cities
I've seen the prisons
That take such pity
When it comes to you
When it comes to me
it's just money that will set you free
Chorus:
hey my children, what seems important
Won't last forever
Hey my children,what seems important
Won't last forever
Take a look at the Earth
From a plane
You'll see the earth
Cut up and in pain
Take a look at L.A.
From the sky
What you see
Should make you cry
Chorus
I'm the scum of the Earth
I am a cancer
I am humanity
Chorus (x2)
I cross the seas
I cross the mountains
Like a new disease
I cross the borders
I cross the line
Never to see the light
Til the end of time
I've seen the canyons
I've seen the cities
I've seen the prisons
That take such pity
When it comes to you
When it comes to me
it's just money that will set you free
hey my children, what seems important
Won't last forever
Hey my children,what seems important
Won't last forever
From a plane
You'll see the earth
Cut up and in pain
Take a look at L.A.
From the sky
What you see
Should make you cry
I am a cancer
I am humanity

The cancer in this song is humanity. This song takes a negative look at humanity's environmental impact on the planet, and how we have spread and conquered the planet like a disease.
this song is about humans as a bacterial fungus of the earth.
yeah, humanity's the scum of the earth. killed everything, destroyed everything....ps: me don't think the song's anti-american...Richard Patrick loves his country too much.
"What seems important won't last forever."
We're the consummate consumer society, we Americans.
A wedding or prom dress. A new car to trade in three years from now. A new CD that'll end up in the used bin.
I had to replace ToR and that's where I found it. It's staying in my collection for good, and this song is one of the reasons why.
I think I cheesy line from 'The Matrix' Explains the entirety of this song...
'like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet'
I think this is a song about frozen vegetables. Or Pythons.
I think this is a song about frozen vegetables. Or Pythons.
Isn't is "take a look at LA, from another sky"
I see this as a kind of anti-capitalist song, perhaps anti-american.
"it's just money that will set you free"
The fight for wealth is sold as the saviour of the individual when really all that achieves if the devastation of the environment - Kyoto anyone?
its about diseases that can come from anywhere and goes everywhere it wants. and can not be stopped. over populated cities have troubles getting the correct amount of vaccines. "take a look at the earth, from a plane, youll see the earth, cut up and in pain" the world is getting hurt by the diseases we have. "take a look at LA from another sky, what you see, should make you cry" over populated city, not enough medicine for everyone. so many people homeless and sick. the spread of diseases.
yeah because humans have made LA all smog and polluted like that.
This song is bad. The chorus kicks. I like what Fremont said.
