this one is a really cool cover, i've never heard the song before, youtube.com/watch but just listening to this gave me the jist idea... haha what albumn is this from.. i like this song. its about how she doesn't want people to be egotistical.. i like how "egos like haridos- depending on how they slept last night" can have double meanings..just like having your hair weird from sleeping on it funny.. or the other sleeping...
Great song! While this is mostly about competition between musicians,Ani perfectly captures professional jealousy, whatever your job.
I can totally imagine Ani stomping home from a gig and writing this overnight after someone "stood at the bar and talked through her songs" when she traded her spot with them. Then belting it out the next night. Her guitar is working overtime, teasing as if to say, you want the centre ring? you do a double somersault, I'll do a triple.
