You sit there in my shadows
And you call it your relief
Don't be the one with bad eyes for
The things that I could see
Don't give me that

The darkness has no armor
Need protection from the air
High hopes through time passing
When I see I want you there

I can't believe
You're the one for me
If it was this easy to find you
I should be ready for a fall
I should be ready for a fall

Now my wonders rally
Around the person I once was
Like a bird that I've been helping
Hope you're healed and strong
You never know when you might have to fly

Where will you go after me?
Where will you go after I set you free?
And I don't know you from a page in my book
Though I should
Though I should

I can't believe
You're the one for me
If it was this easy to find you
I should be ready for a fall
I should be ready for a fall

Where will you go after me?
Where will you go after I set you free?
And I don't know you from a page in my book
Though I should

I can't believe
You're the one for me
If it was this easy to find you
I should be ready for a fall
I should be ready for a fall

    My Interpretation

I have always liked this song and never really paid attention to the lyrics, but now that I have I am not so sure it really is a love song. This is my interpretation, I would love to hear some feedback!

I have copied the lyrics and then written my interpretation below as appropriate:

"You sit there in my shadows And you call it your relief Dont be the one with bad eyes for The things that I could see Dont give me that"

You say you are relieved to receive less attention than me Don't tell me you can’t see what I can see — the truth is you are depressed

"The darkness has no armor Need protection from the air High hopes through time passing When I see I want you there "

You are in a dark place (depression) and you are vulnerable, you need to be protected from the outside world. I have hope that you will heal with time I hope that one day you will see what I see

"I cant believe Youre the one for me If it was this easy to find you I should be ready for a fall I should be ready for a fall "

I don’t think you are the one for me, because if you were I should be falling for you and I’m not.

"Now my wonders rally Around the person I once was Like a bird that Ive been helping Hope youre healed and strong You never know when you might have to fly "

I am amazed at who I used to be. I hope by now you have recovered from your depression.

"Where will you go after me Where will you go after I set you free And I don`t know you from a page in my book Though I should Though I should "

I have left you so you are now free to do what ever you want without any worries — what are you going to do? I realized that I never really knew who you are, though I should have.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Head > Heels
Ed Sheeran
“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
