Yes, this song must be about the "do what you want and leave me alone" thing.

The only way I could see it being about smoking crack would be if the wave is his high,and he's saying "Do whatever the fuck you want but don't blow my buzz".

I'm with the "do whatever you want as long as it doesn't effect me" vibe ... but I think the song's less apathetic than that. I think it's about seeing the behaviors and actions of all different kinds of people, their motives for what they do and how they live, and seeing through all of it while not being effected by it, yourself.
