I taste you much better
Off teeth taste
Of white skin on red leather
Check the claws we got
Night time cavity to come in
Downtown pony
Work your pitch
I came to in feathers
Like leaves taste and you
Rubbed me together
With claws like we got
Night time cavity to come
In downtown pony
Work your pitch daytime dancer
I'll come inside
Got my teacher
Now carve your niche
Off teeth taste
Of white skin on red leather
Check the claws we got
Night time cavity to come in
Downtown pony
Work your pitch
I came to in feathers
Like leaves taste and you
Rubbed me together
With claws like we got
Night time cavity to come
In downtown pony
Work your pitch daytime dancer
I'll come inside
Got my teacher
Now carve your niche

"This was the first song we wrote for the record. its a little heavy. it talks about the white pony, strippers, and drugs and shit." - Chino
"Night time cavity come In downtown pony Work your pitch"
Read the lyrics for Tic by Helmet, this line is kindof a tribute to them.
Also another tribute to Helmet on this album is "Street Carp", where Helmet has a song called "Street Crab".
Kinda interesting. My two favorate bands (Deftones, and Chevelle) are huge Helmet fans.
@Curmudgeon5462 great work catching those

In the bridge Chino whispers "Check the Clouds" Crazy fuckin song!!!
@deftonesworldwide I thought it was “Check the Pulse”

among all their songs, Korea has always been the most ambiguous to me so far as the title is concerned. the lyrics themselves are more or less straightforward to me, but the title seems completely irrelevant. my first interpretation was that Chino wrote the song when they were partying in Korea, touring or whatever, or was reminiscing about a time there.
and then...I came across "chorea". yep, the nervous system disease/illness, defined as being 'characterized by jerky, involuntary movements, chiefly of the face and extremities.' this might be an analogical depiction of the high from cocaine, or just losing one's mind to the music. I dunno but I thought it was pretty possible, especially since they've named a song of theirs "Rickets" (another illness; from ATF album).
It has much to do with the label and I like it for the mere fact that is is a good song. This song sound like it means is chino talking a little weirded out but still clear enough to seee the surrounding or what si happening.
I love the little break after he says something like "Take the pulse". The little break is great for jumping up and down to or whatever. I hope you know what I mean and you don't just think I'm rambling! :(
the breakdown is one of their best in my opinion. and yeah I'm pretty sure it's "check the claws" (in reference to a previous verse) or, as someone else said on here, "check the clouds"

damn...really? I listened to it again and it does kinda sound like "clouds" I always thought it was "claws," also in reference to the "check the claws we got" verse earlier

This song makes me want to jump around and break random shit.
Chino also awakens my unknown leather-fetish with that line... just the way he says it is so vivid, I imagine my girl in red leather on the bed on her knees crawling toward me... passes out
haha i agree about the first bit
