Sleeping Sun was launched on 11th of August 1999, the same day with the solar eclipse which occured in part of Europe and Asia that year.
The videoclip itself figures Tarja singing while some scenes show a solar eclipse.
Now if you take the exact verses which contain "222" you have: 222 days of light will be desired by the night.
coincidence or not, there are exactly 222 days starting 1st of January till August 10th inclusive. - valid for non-leap years.

And 222 refers to Finland being far north and the sun shinig more hours during the day. It's the average number of days the sun shines for almost 24 hours in a day adn the fact "Will be desired by a night" meaning that when the solar eclipse happens, darkness would cover the land.
