All those beautiful people
I want to have them all
All those porcelain models
If only I could make them fall
Be my heart a well of love
Flowing free so far above
A wintry eve
Once upon a tale
An Ugly Duckling
Lost in a verse
Of a sparrow's carol
Dreaming the stars
Be my heart a well of love
Flowing free so far above
In my world
Love is for poets
Never the famous balcony scene
Just a dying faith
On a heaven's gate
Crystal pond awaits the lorn
Tonight another morn for the lonely one is born

i L.O.v.E. this song! i agree with most the interpretations. i think it's about a person who's very beautiful on the inside but not so pretty on the outside, struggling to find true love. she wants to be loved but thinks love doesn't really exist, it's only for poets n writers n movies. in the real world the looks are the thing that really matters. no matter how beautiful she is from the inside, the pretty people are the ones who get the attention.
Strange name for a song but wow what a song it is. "Just a dying faith, On a heaven's gate" is a great line. Everyone knows the tale of the ugly duckling. Toumas puts his own spin on it, like he does so succefully with tons of his other lyrics.
this song is beautiful. the lines 'in my world love is for poets, never the famous balcony scene' is so sad.
I love this song
This song is so 'hauntingly' beautiful...
The imagery this song conjures up is just.. wow. Amazing.
I love nightwish, especially their oceanborn album. They're just so imaginative and creative! I think that the love is only for poets verse could be interpreted as in her world, love is only a thing in books, and it's never a real sacrifice, and the love dies quickly because it's not true love. I love it. It sounded serene when it said "If only I could make them fall" when the lyric was kind of bitter in a way. I agree that the person's kind of vulnerable and open about their love and their heart is open.
this song just reminds of the main character in the movie: the perfume. though im convinced that tuomas didnt mean to writ about him, he draw a character that looks exactly alike, an ugly duckling who's always searching for love, for a beautiful felling... he envies all those people who can just live freely (wanting to make them fall)... he does seem psychotic in this verse... a really gr8 song. i recommand to everyone who likes it to read or watch the movie: the perfume, story of a murderer.

or maybe it's about someone who really appreciates beauty and loves all beautiful people but can't be with someone beautiful bcoz he's not very good-looking himself. he thinks if he can't have them, so he wants them to fall so they won't keep teasing him with their beauty or something like that. he says his heart is big enough to love all of them, but since he doesn't have good looks he never got the chance to be with someone pretty. so he's the ugly duckling dreaming abt the stars which are the beautiful people he wants to have, but they're soo far. in the end i guess he's trying to say that beautiful hearts are supposed to count too, so he could have a chance to be with them. i think what i just said didnt make any sense lol but i'm posting it anyways.
