Walking stiff let me tall ya'
Better left for dead
And now we are on a mission
Well it's full speed ahead
My legion's when we do the crime
Let's get one thing straight
To get there early is on time
And showing up on time is late
Ladies and gents, we're still alive
By the skin of our teeth, now it's killing time
Angel in our pocket, devil by our side
We ain't going nowhere, 'cuz heroes never die
Still alive
Blood of heroes
Never die
They never die
We've been run down every hill
Chased up all the dead end streets
But if you try to cut us out
You'll get a kick in the teeth
Ladies and Gents, we're still alive
By the skin of our teeth, now it's killing time
Fasten up you head belts,
Time to ride the skies
It's time to be immortal, 'cuz heroes never die

General CommentAnother song about war. It's about soldiers who have been ambushed and are fighting for their lives but realize that even if they do die they are still alive by spirit. And will never be forgotten.

General CommentFairly simple, but a damn good song still.

In the story sense, he legion gets their asses kicked and ran down every which way, but the thought of being remembered forever as heros gets their spirits kicked back up, at which point they die with their boots on. Good soldier.

It probably has a metaphorical sense, too, but eh... I'm sleepy.

General CommentThough this is on Youthanasia, which was far from Megadeth's best work, this song is ace. It has so much meaning, and I love the instrument work.

    Heroes never die.

General CommentI think it could be a metaphor for the music scene which is like a war zone everyone coming in all starry eyed and hoping to make it big but everyone gets shot down and even if your the last ones around (the ones who made it big) you still gotta knock down all the little ones who are keeping it real and not selling out and that's just if you want to keep it up for now but if you want to be a real god you gota die young while you are still at the top of your game so you are forever in that spot
Just my thoughts on what the song could mean but then again I'm stoned as fuck

General Commentyes you can connect it to war and the music business because WE ARE THE FANS WHO WILL REMEMBER Megadeth for their spirit in the music business and they will never die, look at them now, Megadeth is still dope and fighting strong even though they are reduced to Mustaine being the only original but he is still making music and getting himself out there but Metallica is dead, even though they might not have made as much money as the shameless sellout metallica, THEY ARE THE REAL WINNERS

General CommentI think this song is a message to their fans about Megadeth as a band, how they've been through so many hard times but that they are still alive and will never die.

General CommentThe song does seem to be about soldiers but it's really a metaphor about Megadeth's standing in the music business. About how they've fought to get where they are and how they will keep on fighting, and how even if they fall, they will still be remembered.

The only part I don't really understand is:
    "
My legion's when we do the crime
    Let's get one thing straight
To get there early is on time
And showing up on time is late
    "

I totally can't get what that's about, even though it sounds pretty cool.
