One, two, three, four

You've got my number
You know what I need
And I go crazy whenever I bleed
Won't you come over? I swear I'll be nice
My girlfriend told me that you've left your wife

I'll learn to bribe, I'll learn to say please
Oh, won't you lick the pavement for me?
I'll learn to bribe, I'll learn to say please
I like you best when you're on your knees

I know you're lonely 'cause you're just like me
Why don't you call me? You know where I'll be

I'll learn to bribe, I'll learn to say please
Oh, won't you lick the pavement for me?
I'll learn to bribe, I'll learn to say please
I like you best when you're on your knees

Do, do, do, do, do, do, do
Do, do, do, do
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do
Do, do, do

I'll learn to bribe, I'll learn to say please
Oh, won't you lick the pavement for me?
I'll learn to bribe, I'll learn to say please
I like you best when you're on your knees

(Do, do, do, do, do, do, do) when you're on your knees
(Do, do, do, do) when you're on your knees
(Do, do, do, do, do, do, do) when you're on your knees
(Do, do, do, do) when you're on your knees
(Do, do, do, do, do, do, do) when you're on your knees
(Do, do, do, do)
Oh, won't you lick the pavement for me? (Do, do, do, do, do, do, do)
Oh, won't you lick the pavement for me? (Do, do, do, do)
Oh, won't you lick the pavement for me? (Do, do, do, do, do, do, do)
Oh, won't you lick the pavement for me, please? (Do, do, do, do)
Please

Oh come on. Please. You have to be joking. Most of Garbage's stuff has pain images through it, even the more 'nice' stuff. Think 'You Look so Fine'. "I want to break your heart and give you mine" and "you got me tethered and chained" and "bleeding for you".

Yes, it's in there, but it's not meant to be literal. This is 'nasty' but 'powerful' Shirley. She pops up quite a bit, that's why I like listening to her (maybe she appeals to my masochist tendencies). She's addressing a cheating bastard (your girlfriend told me you'd left your wife) but she's in charge of him. Lick the pavement. It is a sadistic image (on hands and knees cleaning up a foot path with your tongue) but that's all it is: an image. She's showing how pitiful he is.

    God I love Shirley

Think... She says bleed... I think she's talking about rough domination during sex. Can't you just see her in the pink leather? No I do like Garbage though.

I think she's singing as a man's mistress. Perhaps this man is into S&M and his wife isn't, but this woman will indulge him.

    Song Meaning

Just saw Garbage live in Boston. Shirley Manson yelled "this is a song about cunnilingus, called Lick the Pavement". Seems to solidify its meaning.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
