OK, I need the opionion of others on this. My friends think I am crazy, but I think this song is about a girl (or a boy) struggling through that "dating scene" and wondering if everyone passing her by is the one. It is like imagine standing in a crowded bar and you see a cute guy walk by no everything stops around you and all you see is that guy and then running through your head is all those questions, "Do you want me like I want you? Do you need me like I need you? Do you love me like I love you?"..."or are you passing me by..." So is the guy just going to smile and walk by as a "pass up" or stop and potentially be the one to fulfill all your needs??

I really agree. I think it could be someone struggling through the dating scene and all of its obscure obscenities. This girl or boy could be feeling like they are really in love with someone but are not entirely sure how this someone feels about them. Because the girl or boy who is say "do you love me, like I love you?" is when she or he finally gets up enough courage to find out whether this person actually feels the same way, even though they know that what the other person is going to say may end what ever infatuation...

I think this song is about a girl loveing/wanting/needing this guy, but she doesn't know how he feels...maybe because (as in my case) they're not together.

I think she loves/wants/needs this particular boy who she knows. They've been dating but she wonders if he wants more the ways that she does. If not, it's useless; a waste of time.
I think I agree with Lilyann and missmiami. In my opinion, it's definitely some guy she knows and wants. She can't really understand how he feels though, as in if he wants her too. Maybe I just think that cause I love relating to lyrics and I can relate to this :)

I agree with missmiami. I sometimes feel like this but then after a while, I realize that yeah, he does. This is also played a scene in my life. Imagining someone you like(or a boyfriend) grabbing your hand with this song playing in the background. It's kinda like a reassureance of the song playing. sigh
Sounds like a crush on someone, the intro means, everything is starting out ok, then it starts to go downhill a little, and in the end everything he thought was good didnt work out the way he wanted it to. Then as he or she starts to realize that it wont work, she keeps questing him about it, while hoping someday something will work. Then he or she notices her friends are in great relationships, and her parents love each other, and its something she or he wants to feel, but cant get lucky in that field.
i like my best guy friend and he used to like me but now he is going out with one of my best girl friends...so what do I do? does he want me like i want him? does he need me like i need him? does he love me like i love him? wow love is so confusing
