Gimme Fire
Gimme that which I desire
Ooh
Adrenaline crash and crack my head
Nitro Junkie paint me dead
And I see red
Warhorse
Warhead
Fuck'em, man
White knuckle tight
Through Black and White
On I burn,
Fuel is pumping engines
Burning hard, loose and clean
Churning my direction,
Quench my thirst with gasoline
Gimme fire
Gimme that which I desire
Swallow future, spit out home
Burn your face upon the chrome
Yeah oh, Yeah
Healights (Headlines) headlines
Another junkie lives to fast
Yeah lives way to fast, fast, fast, fast, fast woh
On I burn
Fuel is pumping engines
Burning Hard loose and clean
Churning my direction,
Quench my thrist with gasoline
Gimme fire
Gimme that which I desire
Gimme fuel
Gimme fire
My desire
And on I burn
Fuel is pumping engines
Burning hard loose and clean
Churning my direction
Quench my thirst with gasoline
Gimme Fire
Gimme that which I desire
OOH!!

I've read through some of these pages and I have to wonder why nobody mentioned "adrenaline junkies" yet.. The way I get it, this song is about people that seek every thrill they can get, adrenaline being the fuel that gets their blood running, even if they might crash and burn.

Fuel is about a man having an anger attack that he cannot stop. He talks about "seeing red" and squeezing his knuckles so tight that they're white. He's about to punch someone in anger His movement is "hard and loose, but clean". The lyric "adrenaline junkie" refers to a person with anger issues.

im not going to argue against the drug theme here, both points have already been made BUT: please, if you think you need to spell things differently, with y's and z's and shit, for christ's sake, do not do it wit another man's name

I think this song is about ones desires, and satisfying one's desires. It also shows Hetfield has a desire for things in life. Hetfield is using a metaphore, obviously , a car. Using first person shows he's talking about his desires. "I burn", "quench my thirst", and "my desire", is a dead give away. Overall this song kicks @$$.

I think Hetfield's using Fuel as a metaphore for Drugs and addiction.

this song would be the perfect soundtrack to a formula one race.

I would agree more with prodigal than with zenderboy.. complete_loner is also right of course :) There are some parts that just seem to be screaming "drugs"

it's an allegory about living your life too fast, i think.

the drug thing makes sence, i think it has to do with his!love for cars too

He uses an engine as a metaphore for addiction to drugs. The body always want's more, just like one might want to push an engine more.
