Have You Ever Lyrics
To get up and walk away would be too easy
So stay and stand your ground just watch your mouth with me
On the back of every right, there's a wrong looming
So here you and I should tread as soft
As these razorblades for boots will let be
Have you ever tried to step in my shoes?
Have you ever tried to balance that beam?
And if you ever try to fit in my shoes
They'll never be quite as soft as they seem
Unabashed honesty would be ideal
But a prophet did once say, that honesty's a lonely word
So where do we go from here? Abandon ship now!
My problem is you make me melt and I don't want to be frozen anymore
Have you ever tried to step in my shoes?
Have you ever tried to balance that beam?
And if you ever try to fit in my shoes
They'll never be quite as soft as they seem
Oh oh no oh no
Have you ever, have you ever tried to, I have never, I have never tried to!
Have you ever tried to step in my shoes?
Have you ever tried to balance that beam?
And if you ever try to fit in my shoes
They'll never be quite as soft as they seem
So stay and stand your ground just watch your mouth with me
On the back of every right, there's a wrong looming
So here you and I should tread as soft
As these razorblades for boots will let be
Have you ever tried to balance that beam?
And if you ever try to fit in my shoes
They'll never be quite as soft as they seem
But a prophet did once say, that honesty's a lonely word
So where do we go from here? Abandon ship now!
My problem is you make me melt and I don't want to be frozen anymore
Have you ever tried to balance that beam?
And if you ever try to fit in my shoes
They'll never be quite as soft as they seem
Have you ever tried to balance that beam?
And if you ever try to fit in my shoes
They'll never be quite as soft as they seem

This is Incubus's most underrated song. This is one of their best songs, in my opinion, and it gets just about no recognition. Well, at least we don't have the danger of this song getting to be like Drive... YOU know what I mean.
yeah played over and over, but no matter what i still love drive and all their other songs...but i think this song is about his girlfriend and him, i heard they jus broke up and it jus seems like he pulls anger through this song.. i felt like he was yelling at me the first time i listened to it.
This is about the feeling when people put you down, but they don't know how hard it is to be somebody else.
it's honesty is a lonely word, makes more sense too.
Me thinks it's about how people the members of Incubus lead a charmed life because all the do is play music, but Brandon is saying it isn't as easy as the public think it is
Sounds like brandon isnt a happy bunny..
Maybe we should try walking in his shoes and balancing on the beam to understand what this song really means.
i really like this song, i've kinda just recently noticed how good it is. i absolutely LOVE the line "my problem is you make me melt and I don't want to be frozen anymore" (at least i think it's make not made, and i also think its "honesty's a lonely word") i think that line is about how he loves this person so he wants to be with her but she hurt him so it's a problem. or something like that. whatever this song rocks (as do all of Incubus's songs :) )
i think that not enough people appreciate this song.... it's not fair.... some of the best songs never get recognized... but anyways, this is a great song as all the others on morning view are. this song has great meaning to it.
i think that he is not understood in how hard his life is.... and she thinks his life is soo easy... and by thinking that, she puts him down ... or " makes him melt" but he doesn't want to be put down anymore.... he's just tired of it.
