Floyd the Barber Lyrics
Bell on door clang, come on in
Floyd observes my hairy chin
Sit down chair, don't be afraid
Steamed hot towel on my face
I was shamed
I was shamed
I was shamed
Barney ties me to the chair
I can't see, I'm really scared
Floyd breathes hard, I hear a zip
Pee-pee pressed against my lips
I was shamed
I was shamed
I was shamed
I sense others in the room
Opie, Aunt Bee, I presume
They take turns and cut me up
I died smothered in Aunt Bee's muff
I was shamed
I was shamed
I was shamed
Floyd observes my hairy chin
Sit down chair, don't be afraid
Steamed hot towel on my face
I was shamed
I was shamed
I can't see, I'm really scared
Floyd breathes hard, I hear a zip
Pee-pee pressed against my lips
I was shamed
I was shamed
Opie, Aunt Bee, I presume
They take turns and cut me up
I died smothered in Aunt Bee's muff
I was shamed
I was shamed

this song was written about the Andy griffith show
@Butterfly_Babe Yeah and Kurt was embarrassed to like it, Ha!

it obviously does have refrences to the andy show, but it's mostly about being overcome by higheer authority. -m
This song is about how a seemingly perfect town has it's dark secrets(acording to "Come as You Are") just like Arberdeen, Kurt's hometown.
I'm not sure this is exactly what the song is about, but it's an interesting analysis/interpretation.

The song subverts and corrupts Andy Griffith's fictional town of Mayberry as an analogy to "a seemingly perfect town (that) has its dark secrets."

That "perfect town" could be Aberdeen (although it was a run-down, derelict, blue-collar town that was far from seeming perfect), but it's more likely to be a town like the fictional Twin Peaks or any picket-fenced, 50's conceived, American small town.

In this song, the "homely fantasy" of Mayberry (Opposite of Aberdeen) is turned into a night mare. Kurt could have also drawn from a comic strip parody of the Andy Griffith show by Drew and John Friedman. It is a remix of a Dale Crover demo that was done with Cobain and Novoselic.
Actually the line goes "I was shamed / I was shaved / I was shamed" so you're both right. Actually I may have that a little backwards. It might be shaved/shamed/shaved.
Anyway, you're pretty much right. . one of his punkier ideas, a small town gone bad, references to the ANdy Griffith show, which he thought was hte most hyprocritical, absurd show ever, especially when he compared it to his hometown of Aberdeen. THus the bizarre nightmarish mix of a character being raped and slaughtered by the cast of the Andy Griffith show.
This song draws you in. It goes from a normal visit to the barber shop to, well...a little more than that. It definitely reflects the horrifying secrets behind a small town (eg- Andy, Aberdeen, etc). Fucking amazing song. Also, if you read the Journals, its actually, "Bell on door clanks, come on in" and I died smothered in Aunt Bea's butt"...whether he altered them during different performances, this is what he originally wrote in his Journals.
It's actually "I die smothered in Andy's butt", other than that, you are correct all the way.

Floyd the Barber - A song about a small town that goes bad, the title is taken from a character on The Andy Griffith Show. Everyone turns out to be a mass-murderer. The song also shows Freudian castration fears
xDD I find the meaning of this song to be really funny.
It's basically about all the characters from the Andy Griffith show going evil and stuff. -snickers-
Exactly, it's just black comedy, bascially.

Uhh...guys....the Andy Griffith meaning REALLY IS the meaning...
Exactly, FellOnBlackDays. Stop acting like this song is so deep. It's about exactly what it seems to be on the surface; Kurt gets raped by the cast of the Andy Griffith show. It came from Kurt's warped sense of humor. Haven't you ever seen Nirvana interview footage? Or read some of his published journals? Kurt was always making jokes. Yes, he was a severely depressed human being. That doesn't mean he always acted sad. He, like tons of people, used humor to cope. This song is about the pure folks of Mayberry raping Kurt, which is what people call irony, and he meant it to be funny.

By the way, is "KickerOfElves" a reference to Tenacious D?
