Bright Side Of The Road Lyrics
To the bright side of the road
We'll be lovers once again on the
Bright side of the road
Little darlin', come with me
Won't you help me share my load
From the dark end of the street
To the bright side of the road
Baby sometimes we don't know why
And time seems to go by so fast
In the twinkling of an eye
Won't you help me sing my song
From the dark end of the street
To the bright side of the road
To the bright side of the road
We'll be lovers once again
On the bright side of the road
We'll be lovers once again on the bright side of the road

This was the first song that really got me into Van Morrison. Very upbeat and uplifting song.

this is the best 'sitting-on-a-friend's-front-deck,-in-the-South-Australian-sunshine-drinking-homemade-beer-and-reminiscing-of-good-times' song ever.

WOW... I can't believe that only two other people have commented on this song! It's just the most elevating song! Whenever I hear it, I spontaneously break out in dance! IT'S GREAT. :D
There is a bit of a deeper side of this song to me. I used to be depressed and this song was one of the few things that could always make me smile. I'm not a huge fan of Van Morrison, but this old song has completely won me over. (Old, considering my age!!) It's Van's best song in my book!

I was in a city the other day, and it occured to me that because of the tall buildings and the angle of the sun, during most of the day one side of the street is always bright and the other is cast in shadow. I wonder if that's what he means by the 'bright side of the road'.

This song is so uplifting no matter what. Van the Man's classic song in my opinion.

Love this song. I am normally a alt-country fan but Van Morrison has something.

Theory 1: The song encourages the listener to have a more positive outlook on life
Theory 2: The narrator is dead. He's singing to his lover, who's still alive. Bright side of the road = Heaven

It's a non pharmaceutical antidepressant!

According to biographer Brian Hinton it is "an answer in song to 'The Dark End of the Street'

I have always loved this song and considered it a very uplifting song. However, I learned in the past week that my sister now has cancer and I was holding back my emotions about this news. This song came on my iPod, and I started to sob like a baby, as to how fleeting life can be. Thank you Van for touching something inside of me that needed to be expressed.
