Tea Lady

There is a girl I see every day
She works in the cafe
At the corner down the street
Where I go after my shift
I spend my lunch break there each day
And without any word to say
She brings me a cup of sugary tea
And gently smiles at me
I know her well
And she knows me well
I see her often after work
For she is my best friend's lover
From the window I sit by at my workplace
I can see easily her face
All the ladies that work there have long fair hair
But she's the reason why I wouldn't go elsewhere
If I ever fancy a sweet pastry
She gives me one for free
She'd never charge me when I ask for the bill
She'll use her next tip to pay off the till
I'll never tell her
I think that I fell
In love with her, I lock my heart instead
For she is my best friend's girlfriend
I've bought a cup and a tin can of tea
From now on I stay in
It will be easier I think for me
To change my loving feeling
Eventually she ran into me
And sadly she asked me
Is there any reason why you don't come to drink
Anymore a cup of tea with milk?
And I replied
There's a backlog of work I got to catch up on
So I'm quite busy these days
But I'll soon come eating a slice of apple pie someday
Sprinkled with cinnamon
But I didn't believe
In what I just said
But I'm relieved if she did
I don't want to cause her any pain
Oh life did send
A trial to prove I'm a good friend
But I'm sure I won't fail this test
I like her but I love him the best
