Babbacombe History Heritage Trail Lyrics

Come along to our heritage trail
The Babbacombe history heritage trail
There are so many tales to tell
On the Babbacombe history heritage trail

There’s the Norcliff Hotel on the corner of that road
A bomb fell on it so I have been told
That was during World War Two
On this history trail there’s so much to show you

Come along to our heritage trail
The Babbacombe history heritage trail
There are so many tales to tell
On the Babbacombe history heritage trail

As you walk along the Downs just look at the view
What a lovely scene in front of you
In England it’s the highest clifftop promenade
There used to be a bandstand where music was played

You must have heard about Babbacombe Lee
Emma Keyes murdered so nastily

Clement Madely Smith was very proud of his beard
It almost reached the ground which is very weird
He used to roll it up within his waistcoat
So it’s another local history anecdote

Come along to our heritage trail
The Babbacombe history heritage trail
There are so many tales to tell
On the Babbacombe history heritage trail
The Babbacombe history heritage trail

Cover art for Babbacombe History Heritage Trail lyrics by Legendary Ten Seconds, The

This song is about some of the history in the Babbacombe area of Torquay in South Devon. The idea for the song came from when I help with the guided walks in Babbacombe for a local history society during the summer. My song mentions Babbacombe Lee known as the man they could not hand. Fairport Convention recorded an album about Babbacombe Lee in the 1970's.
