“American Town” is a new Ed Sheeran song that was released on September 29. The track is one of fourteen tracks listed on his seventh studio album, “Autumn Variations.” Although no singles were released in support of the project, “American Town” is by far the most popular single on “Autumn Variations.” This is because of the video Ed Sheeran shared a week before the album dropped. In the clip, he can be seen playing the track, which was inspired by the American sitcom “Friends,” to Courtney Cox, who starred in the show.

Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
“American Town” has a nice pace and sound to it that makes it instantly catchy. Perhaps Ed Sheeran exaggerated the relationship between the lyrics of this track and the show “Friends” for commercial purposes, but that doesn’t detract from the quality of this 8/10 track.
