I’m surprised I’m the first one to comment on this masterpiece but
The song is about suicidal thoughts and intentions. Being in “the void” meaning stuck in oneselves body while the “escape” is suicide I’m pretty sure. “I hate who I was before” is more than less likely Melanie talking about her old faze’s like her crybaby & K12 era. Maybe she regrets those decisions of being herself and is singing about it in this song, if you guys know about more tell me pls
