I've been thinking about the great migration
Noon and night, they leave the flock
And I imagine their destination
Nettle grass, jagged rock

The Lord is my engineer
The Lord is the earth I ran on
The Lord is a face in the atmosphere
The path I slip and I slide

Crystal comet
Starlit night
Silver moon
To smooth the edge of daylight

Now it turned, evening rose
Tribal voices
Old and young
Celebrations
A history of family sung
The endless river flows

The Lord is my engineer
The Lord is the earth I ran on
The Lord is a face in the atmosphere
The path I'll slip and I'll slide on

The Lord is a virgin forest
The Lord is a forest ranger
The Lord is a meal for the poorest of the poor
A welcome door to the stranger

Tears and flowers
Dry over time
Memories leave us
Melody and rhyme
When the cold wind blows

The seeds we gather
From the gardener's glove
Live forever
Nothing dies of too much love

The Lord
The Lord is the earth I ride on
The Lord is a face in the atmosphere
The path I'll slip and slide on

The Lord is a virgin forest
The Lord is a forest ranger
The Lord is a meal for the poorest
A welcome door to the stranger

The Covid virus is The Lord
The Lord is the ocean rising
The Lord is a terrible swift sword
A simple truth, surviving

Love is like a braid
Some say, and I, I don't disbelieve it
Cowry shells
Fine combs made of jade
To ornament and weave it

I lived a life of pleasant sorrows
Until the real deal came
Broke me like a twig in a winter gale
Call me by my name
And in that time of prayer and waiting
Where doubt and reason dwell
A jury sat deliberating
All is lost
Or all is well

Home, home, sun on my doorstep
Shocks me to find
I'm a child again, entwined
In your love
In your light
In your cool summer shade

The garden keeps a rose and a thorn
And once the choice is made
All that's left
Is mending what was torn
Love is like a braid
Love is like a braid

Good morning, Mr. Indignation
Looks like you haven't slept all night
In my professional opinion
Go back to bed and turn off your light

I'm not a doctor or a preacher
I've no particular guiding star
In my professional opinion
I'm no more satisfied than you are

So, what in the world are we whispering for?
Everyone's naked, there's nothing to hide
Come carry my grievances down to the shore
Wash 'em away in the tumbling tide

I heard two cows in a conversation
One called the other one a name
In my professional opinion
All cows in the country must bear the blame

So, all rise to the occasion
Or all sink into despair
In my professional opinion
We're better off not going there

Oh, what in the world we whispering for?
Everyone's naked, there's nothing to hide
Go carry my grievances down to the shore
Wash 'em away in the tumbling tide

Wash 'em away in the tumbling tide
Wash 'em away in the tide
All that really matters is the one who became us
Anointed and gained us with his opinion

The Lord is my engineer
The Lord is the earth I ride on
The Lord is a face in the atmosphere
The path I'll slip and slide on

The Lord is a virgin forest
The Lord is a forest ranger
The Lord is a meal for the poorest of the poor
A welcome door to the stranger

The Covid virus is The Lord
The Lord is the ocean rising
The Lord is a terrible swift sword
A simple truth, surviving

Yesterday's boy is gone
Driving through darkness
Searching for your forgiveness

Is sorrow a beautiful song?
Lives in the heart and sings for all
Your forgiveness

Inside the digital mind
A homeless soul ponders the cold
Of forgiveness

And I, the last in the line
Hoping the gates won't be closed before
Your forgiveness

Dip your hand in Heaven's waters
God's imagination
Dip your hand in Heaven's waters
All of life's abundance in a drop of condensation
Dip your hand in Heaven's waters

I, I have my reasons to doubt
There is a case to be made
Two billion heartbeats and out
Waving a flag in the last parade
I have my reasons to doubt

Dip your hand in Heaven's waters
God's imagination
Dip your hand in Heaven's waters
All of life's abundance in a drop of condensation
Dip your hand in Heaven's waters

I, I have my reasons to doubt
The white light eases the pain
Two billion heartbeats and out
Or does it all begin again?

Dip your hand in Heaven's waters
God's imagination
Dip your hand in Heaven's waters
All of life's abundance in a drop of condensation

When I was young
I carried my guitar down to the crossroads
And over the seas
Now those old roads are a trail of volcanoes
Exploding with refugees
It seems to me
We're all walking down the same road
To wherever it ends
The pity is
The damage that's done
Leaves so little time for amends

A change of mood
A summer storm erased the sunny sky
Two hapless hitchhikers were signalling us
As we were cruising by

Not in the mood
For idle chat or hitchhiker bumming
Nevertheless, we took them on
This highway courtesy

"Hurry, get yourselves inside the truck
We're just going up a ways
The rain should turn to mist with any luck
And you can find a place to stay"

The woman spoke, her voice a blend of regional perfumes

"We have no destination
The moon and the stars provide us with our rooms
My boy and me were refugees of sorts from my hometown
Then all life different now
They would have mowed us down
He doesn't talk much anymore
Just to the voices in his head"

The boy just gazed down at the floor
And nodded once or twice
At what she said

The sacred harp
That David played to make his songs of praise
We long to hear those strains
That set his heart ablaze

The ringing strings
The thought that God turns music into bliss
We left the pickup in the driveway
The moon appeared as amber in the mist

The Lord is a puff of smoke
That disappears when the winds blow
The Lord is my personal joke
My reflection in the window
I've been thinking about our tribal nature
Our benediction and our curse
Are we all just trial and error?
One of a billion in the universe

The Lord is my engineer
The Lord is my record producer
The Lord is the music I hear
Deep in the valley and the scene

The Lord is my engineer
The Lord is the train I ride on
The Lord is the coast, the coast is clear
The path I slip and I slide on

Wait
I'm not ready
I'm just packing my gear
Wait
My hand's steady
My mind is still clear

I hear the ghost songs and old
Jumpin', jivin', moanin'
Through a hard broken microphone
Wait

Life is a meteor
Let your eyes roam
Heaven is beautiful
It's almost like home
Children get ready
It's time to come home

I want to believe in
A dreamless transition
Wait
I don't want to be near
My dark intuition

I need you here by my side

My beautiful mystery guide
Wait

Life is a meteor
Let your eyes roam
Heaven is beautiful
It's almost like home
Children, get ready
It's time to come home

Amen

Love in a Vacuum
'Til Tuesday
Well, in my opinion this song is about being a young & maybe a little naive &/or introverted girl and finding yourself loving a man who is at first very charming, carefree & outgoing, and seems at first to be without limits, as in "There was a time you opened up every doorway you didn't mind if everything wasn't your way" then that man starts to gradually become more introverted & shows their more possessive/obsessive side to you as the relationship progresses, even while they keep up the appearance of being carefree & outgoing to everyone else, "Don't pull away that goes against what you told me I look in your eyes I realize what you've sold me is love in a vacuum" so you confront them about the way they're acting and of course they deny it, "I think you've changed but you insist that that's not true" quite possibly they are an addict of some sort, my guess would be cocaine, &/or showing very obsessive behavior towards you (early on in the video for this song we see the man hanging a picture up, it is a very large portrait of Aimee & it is prominently displayed in his/their apartment for the duration of the song), thus their "love in a vacuum", "You look so strange, so distant that you're hardly you Now I can see how you have been acting different You say it's me but I know that it isn't it's love in a vacuum" but still you are in love with them and don't want to leave them and you know that they are truly in love with you and they don't want you to leave them either, maybe they are convinced you can save them from themself, maybe they are so broken that the possibility of an overdose &/or suicide attempt is very real and you want to get through to them that their behavior not only dangerous but it is also just pissing you off and if they don't wise up they run the risk of loosing you, as in the lines "You will be lonely if you leave me alone", so you want to save them but can't get through to them due to the addiction &/or emotional problems they have, "Love in a vacuum and that's not enough love in a vacuum You will be lonely you'll be the only one who feels this way You will be lonely if you leave me alone You will be lonely you'll be the only one who feels this way it's just not enough" you want them to understand that the love they are giving you is not enough when it is filtered through the vacuum of their drug addiction &/or emotional impairment, "You will be lonely you'll be the only one who feels this way it's just not enough and just wait you will be lonely Love in a vacuum Love in a vacuum and that's not enough Love in a vacuum". 'Love In A Vacuum' for me is a hauntingly truthful acute argument on the loneliness of obsession and almost inevitable loss of love that follows people who are broken in some way or another; the obsessives, the coke heads, the drunks, addicts or the just-plain-old emotionally broken; a razor sharp, lyrically driven, deceptively poppy, yet ultimately-depressing-in-the-best-way song. Quintessential Aimee Mann.

The Spy
Doors, The
Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
