What?
I am a man of God
Boy, hush, Henny is in your name and your blood
Get in here

Uh
I backflip on this beat (Backflip)
Feeling like a faucet, got a bit of reprieve
I got a whole lotta thoughts that I simmer to peak (Yeah)
Then I serve it to my homies like a dinner for free
I feel amiss like I'm missin' a beat
Don't get it twisted, I be groovin', never missin' a beat (Never)
When Stool speak, know the masses bruise the loose leaf
Uh, yeah, yeah
I'm talkin' article reviews
I'm like an artist in the news
I'm like an artisan with tunes (Yeah)
I'm the sergeant of the boom bap
This is doom rap sprinkled with some loose scraps (Loose scraps)
You know the rules
You know that Stool needs his naptime (I need to sleep)
And I'm probably gonna be back by noon
Maybe, I don't know
I'll be back, like, I, I don't know, I'll be back in like a little bit
I just gotta go to my car real quick (I, I gotta, I gotta go)

I don't wanna get high with you no more
(I don't wanna get high, I don't wanna get high)
I don't wanna get high with you no more
(I don't wanna get high)
I don't wanna get high with you no more
(I don't wanna get, I don't wanna get high)
I don't wanna get high with you no more

We started out in the parking lot with the windows up (Windows up)
Hotboxing, fishbowling
Whatever you wanna call it (Call it)
Freestylin', eyes all foggy, super giggly
I told my mama that I just needed an antihistamine
Hazy history, breaking trees like Bunyan (Chop, chop, chop)
Hit the corner store, Gatorade and Funyuns (Yeah)
Baby lunged younguns using apples for a different function
Is it a skunk or some really old cheese?
It doesn't matter, the breeze will escort the stench eventually (Yeah)
Blowing in the wind, celestial anemones
Deep-fried friends of the devil with a bag of bones
Sparkin' up asparagus and prank callin' strangers' phones
Blazed, baked, stoned, Talking Heads buzzed
Drive around the neighborhood, same as it ever was
And nowadays, I like the solitude of toking (Solitude of toking)
Staring at the ceiling fan, I'm talking to myself again (Talking to—)

I don't wanna get high with you no more
(I don't wanna get high, I don't wanna get high)
I don't wanna get high with you no more
(I don't wanna get high)
I don't wanna get high with you no more
(I don't wanna get, I don't wanna get high)
I don't wanna get high with you no more

We used to meet up at the playground
That's where we would lay down
Back in the day, stood knee-high to an eight-ounce
Hidden in the backwoods with mischievous intentions
Most of us with soda cans and other inventions
Pen caps, sockets, rockets, antennas and wrenches
In the December weather warmin' up the benches
It was the heat of the moment burnin' my very soul
When we were gettin' high, the nights were never very cold
But then we would take the way around to try to get home
The edge of the knife, that shit was blunted, yeah, it need the wet stone
You better be careful or you'll be livin' beneath a headstone
I better be fearful of crossin' the line if I'ma keep goin'
So farewell and adieu to you and the world
Now who handed me this fistful of pearls?
I'm outtie 5000, you ever forget why?
Catch me at the ten-year, maybe we'll get high

I don't wanna get high with you no more
(I don't wanna get high, I don't wanna get high)
I said, I don't wanna get high with you no more
(I don't wanna get high)
Yeah, I don't wanna get high with you no more
(I don't wanna get, I don't wanna get high)
I said, I don't wanna get high with you no more

We started out in the parking lot with the windows up, windows up
Hotboxing (Feeling like a faucet, got a bit of reprieve, I got a—)
Freestylin', eyes all foggy, super giggly
(The edge of the knife, that shit was blunted)
(Yeah, it need the wet, you better be—)
In the parking lot with the windows up, windows up
(Then I serve it to my homies like a dinner for free, dinner for free)
Told my mama that I just needed an antihistamine
(You better be careful or you'll be livin' beneath a headstone)

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
