Tamagotchi Lyrics

Stay with me
I can’t feel these words like I did when we were young
Trading in ink for false peace of mind
Well, I’ve been choking on words for far too long now

Back and forth, we’re always falling in between
The cracks in the floor board won’t offer you a thing
And I’m naive, but I know happiness is fleeting
And yet we pursue it on in hopes that we won’t need it

It comes in waves of age
A sea of disconnect
Now crashes on the shores of innocence
And in a sense, we’re trying to keep ourselves afloat

Back and forth, we’re always falling in between
The cracks in the floor board won’t offer you a thing
And I’m naive, but I know happiness is fleeting
And yet we pursue it on in hopes that we won’t need it

Well it comes in waves of age
And we’re all sinking under
This happiness facade

On entering life
Whatever may come
Nothing is guaranteed

When you paint such a perfect picture
And you see it realized in flesh
When there’s nothing to aspire to left
We tend to disconnect

So won’t you put this back together just one more time

Stay with me
I can’t feel these words like I did when we were young
Trading in ink for false peace of mind
Well, I’ve been choking on words for far too long now

Cover art for Tamagotchi lyrics by Sea in the Sky

I love this song personally, I think these guys are amazing. The melody in this song is beautiful. Sam, the singer, writes a lot about the thinking about the world, and our purpose, his feelings towards it all, and the struggles of life that we all go through but maybe don't like to admit. "Back and forth, we’re always falling in between The cracks in the floor board won’t offer you a thing And I’m naive, but I know happiness is fleeting And yet we pursue it on in hopes that we won’t need it" I love this chorus. He's written a good bit about his childhood and missing it and his childhood home. I think the first line is just that, he's reminiscing about his childhood home and the floorboards he remembers, but he knows in the end it doesn't really do anything. It gives you a feeling of nostaliga but thats it. It doesn't fix how you're feeling in the present day. He calls himself naive and the next line is what I mean by he writes a lot about things we as humans don't like to admit. We pursue happiness but when we get tired, we expect we are able to go on without it with something else as a replacement. But we all know that's not how it works and he's highlighting it here. The rest of the song is pretty self-explanatory and repetitive. Great song from a great band for sure.
