Sound of Her Laughter Lyrics
Behind the doorway, hear her laughing
If I could fly away, might be happy
It goes on and on . . .
Beyond these four walls, the children running
I open my arms, embracing nothing
In my daydream, the morning's so cold
Smoke is clearing, got a lungful
It goes on and on . . .
If I could fly away, might be happy
I open my arms, embracing nothing
In my daydream, the morning's so cold
Smoke is clearing, got a lungful

This song helped me through a very dark phase of my life as I could exactly identify myself with the lyrics word by word. In addition I love melancholic music like Katatonia etc.
One nice thing about the track is that the picking and chords are not too difficult to play, so that they can be learned within a few minutes on your acoustic guitar.
But now to the meaning.
Hearing "her laughter" behind the doorway is extremely agonising when you are completely depressed and your ex-partner on the other hand is having fun. In such a moment you wish you could simply disintegrate or "fly away" to be a bit more happy.
The chorus intensifies the fact the suffering goes on and on.
"Beyond these four walls, the children running" is a cheerful thought when children are playing. "I open my arms, embracing nothing" But there is no child to embrace, as she took them away from me.
"In my daydream, the morning's so cold" could mean that waking up in the morning and no one's there, is a creepy cold feeling of emptiness.
"Smoke is clearing, got a lungful" Getting high can 'eventually' clear your thoughts.
Well that's it, these were my two cents. Oh, by the way, one year later the bitch was gone and I had the kids, so everything turned out OK in the end.
