To me this feels like a relationship where the person isn't yet over their ex-love interest and is hence not emotionally "available". There's still the ghost of the ex haunting her. Meanwhile she's only a "visitor" when it comes to the new person who she feels is "better in the back of my mind" and she's trying to warn them to "wake up" to that reality.
Although in my experience, this most likely means the new person simply isn't the right one!
